Though I have to say that there are some good reboots like of the 2013 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot was actually really clever the Voltron reboot until it’s final few seasons were really funny and clever she Ra was really good to reboot and a few others I can’t think of at the moment but I know they’re there it justDepends on how they use the source material and add their own creative spin on it like the Scooby Doo mystery Incorporated which was the 2010 version that took almost every reiteration of Scooby Doo and created a more of a retro spin on it having its own original storyline with an actual storyline plus the monster of the week from the originals among other things which was really good

The intro was done by the people who animated the amazing world of gumball...which explains why it looks good. Or so I thought... Turns out it was actually Golden Wolf. I had assumed since gumball's intro is very similar to the new ppg intro, as well as some of the humans in the intro having what I like to call "Gumball face". But golden wolf has done some stuff with the gumball team. as well as both of them being in Europe.

I approve of adding in modern things into reboots of something, because it's supposed to take place in whatever time period it's being remade, so long as it's subtle, in the background, or not given too much attention. What I DON'T approve of, however, is shoving modern things into the audience's faces 24/7, having all their "jokes" and material being mashed off of it, and fully relying on it to vainly appeal to a newer audience. I really hate this, and this is coming from a memelord such as myself. =\

I also agree adding some modern stuff to an older show can work and make it feel different while still feeling very much like the original. Like for the PPG, Pan mentioned the girls all had their own smartphones to respond to emergencies that even had their own unique designs; I feel that fits more than the toy phone in the original.

You make very good points about how the original is pretty timeless by not referencing contemporary real-world things, while the reboot is the total opposite. It tries way too hard to be trendy and "in". Indeed, in a few years it'll be cringeworthy when you go back and watch some of these episodes with outdated references and jokes. The intro song did perfect in the show don’t tell aspect, as the tone of the music as each of the girls appear on screen shifts a bit Blossom, music that sounds somewhat heroic Bubbles (Nostalgia critic “fucking bubbles” sounds off), sweet and innocent tone Buttercup, metal guitar rift gives off the aggressiveness of her character It did fantastic in this department

So basically, this show is marketed as a new series but relies on the old series for people to recognize the characters. It cuts down the violence in a show that literally had fighting in almost every episode. They took out Ms.Bellum because they thought she was a bad role model for kids, they didn't bring back the original voice actresses of the girls but all the other voices of the side characters came back, except for Princess Morbucks. They nerfed the girls in terms of strength and made the girls into jerks. How can this show call itself the Powerpuff girls?! But hey, at least it's making money so who cares right?

Wow, that was a really nicely done part 1. I think everything you said is true, down to the obnoxious overuse of "Trendy" items to how they destroyed the characters personalities, I'm curious what more you're going to mention in part 2. But let's be honest, the show was doomed from the start when the original creator didn't want to work on it. It's very rare when a rebooted show does good despite not having it's original creator. And I also agree that even when a show's style changes, it can still be good, if not more than its predecessor. But if I have to disagree on one thing, it's seeing shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog rebooted. After seeing how Powerpuff Girls is being handled, I'm terrified of what could happen to other iconic shows like Courage, Ed Edd n Eddy, and so on. I mean, I would still be open if and only if they kept the original creator but I doubt that would happen. Anyway, nice review, can't wait for part 2 :)
