Israel had to accept the agreement. The reason is Israel said "if Hamas releases hostages we stop our response". The perception is that happened. I am a Christian who has been to Israel, fought in Lebanon, and as a bonus my late wife's family are Palestinian. My circle for decades was Arabs and I attended social functions and had very good relationships with them. The propaganda out of the Palestinians, a regional reference not a tribal one, is mostly BS. My inlaws were in Israel in 48, they were kids, and the reality is the Arabs who had homes and businesses were not driven out. Some rented and those houses were sold but that is what happens. The Arab kids, many descendants of Greek colonies, played with, went to school with, and lived next to, Jewish kids. The Arab Muslims split off the nomads, lower caste, Arabs to become a professional refugee class. They are canon fodder. The Gazans are a fully programmed, hate filled, death cult. One of my brother in laws had a Gazan wife. She went to visit family, none of the family ever were stopped from visiting Israel, with her three year old. I saw a video she made where she went up to an Israeli cop and the got the kid to throw rocks saying "throw the rock at the Jew!". He did. The look on the guards face was pure sadness. The cartoons and kids books are beyond hate, and this is now so engrained into the people you would have to work to find someone not totally down with destroying every Jew. I have no doubt Hamas will violate the agreement. I have no doubt that a lot of the world will blame Israel

Mark you are totally not getting it... Palestinians as in a Palestinian nation did not exist under ottoman rule, neither it existed in 1948. Palestinian Arab existed just like Palestinian Jews and Druze, but they were Arabs, Jews and Druze living in the region named Palestine, rather than Palestinians liiving in Israel. Palestine was the name of the region, and the people living in it were Palestinians, no matter of their roots or ethnicity. Arafat turned the name of the region to the ethnicity of the Arabs who lived on these territory.

From a strategic military point of view, this ceasefire agreement makes no sense, unless Israel can and does resume wiping out Hamas at the end of the first phase of the agreement. Nevertheless, I rejoiced with tears to see the three young ladies reunited with their families. in addition, when the IDF goes back into Gaza full-strength, it has to take control of delivering aide to the Gazans. People typically are emotionally wedded to the entity that feeds them. And as it stands now, Israel is maintaining Hamas' psychological hold on Gazans by allowing the terrorist group to distribute the food, medicine and blankets. I do enjoy the format of this podcast whereby Mark and Ruthie frequently offer contrasting views. They help me reach a more informed, well-rounded opinion of my own. However, I must admit -- I usually agree with Ruthie 😊.

Oh sure the name goes back further back, a name that was given by Romans as a negative ow with a negative connotation. Here is a US comparison. Imagine you have people in the US Midwest living in Ohio, Dekota, Wisconsin and so on, then you have people migrate to US Midwestern region and at some point they start launching terror attacks and then proclaim themselves Midwesterners, and start demanding a country of their own. I believe that getting all the hostages released is the number 1 important at the moment because the hostages have been in the way of the war against Hamas all along since the beginning of the war. If all the hostages are managed to be released, should Hamas choose to continue the war with the boost from the released prisoners after the ceasefire, it would be easier for IDF to fight them besides destroying the underground tunnels without worry. Most of Hamas weapons are destroyed and even with the released prisoners joining the war, they won't be able to do much. However, should the war is ceased to continue, Israel will be at the upper hand in the post war deal.

Palestine was a name given to the land by the colonials, started with the Roman followed by the caliphates then the Ottoman and the British. In that land called Palestine, lived the some Jews (the original inhabitants), some new Arab immigrants, Druze and others. Meanwhile, the exiled Jews had never stopped from trying to return to their homeland. Besides the Jews, no other ethnic groups were trying to return back to Israel (called Palestine back then) simply because Israel was never been their ancestors homeland. When the British, who had the authority over the land after ww2 agreed to give the land to the people who were living there, they decided to split it into two; one for the Jew-Palestinians and another to the Arab-Palestinians. The Jews renamed their land Israel, the original name of the land given by their ancestors. After having their own sovereign land/state, more Jews from all over Europe who had been looking forward to return to their homeland, returned to the new state of Israel. However, the Arab-Palestinians refused to accept the two state solution deal and decided to declare war on Israel as a solution to determine ownership to the whole land, hoping and confident of winning the war as all the neighboring powerful Arab nations had agreed and urged them to go for war instead of accepting the two state solution deal. We all knew that the Israeli won the war and by right the whole land should belong to Israel based on method of determining ownership of the land that had been preferred by the Arab-Palestinians and the Arab nations. Now many people began to get confused with the term Palestine and Israel and started to think that Palestine is occupied by Israel because of continuous and consistent lies and propaganda by the Palestinians with the support of the Arabs in particular and the Muslims in general.
