We have multiple talking snakes in DC, so why not?

I wish that he would have taken it further explaining the scripture regarding the snake. For instance, when God punished the serpent...And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: Genesis 3:14 KJV. It sounds like he is punishing an animal or reptile in this instance. I would like to understand that part as well.

This also needs to be explained alongside genesis 3,1 as this creature is referred to as a 'Beast of the field' and genesis 3,14 'on your belly you shall go'

The being that tempted Eve wanted to elevate himself above the throne of the Most High. God was letting him know not only would that not happen, but he would be made lower than the beasts of the field, dwelling in their dust or even under the earth. It’s a divine smack down of the tempter by Almighty God. It’s not that difficult to understand if you were an ancient Jewish reader being told what happened.

If you examine it says Genesis 3:1 NET translation 3 Now[a] the serpent[b] was shrewder[c] than any of the wild animals[d] that the Lord God had made. It doesn't say the serpent was shrewder than all the other wild animals, it does not relate the serpent to being of the wild animals or the same as them but distinctly above them. In essence pointing out this is a different type of creation other than the wild animals. It is a great clue to the context. So I'm glad you brought this up I remember wondering about it for myself at some point. And as for verse 14 Gen 3:14 the NET bible has notes saying cursed in Hebrew can also mean banished or punished. So the language allows for the interpretation this being Lucifer he had his freedom of movement restricted from the heavens to just the earth given it mentions dust of the earth or something to that effect and it relates it to a curse far worse than the beasts of the field had with sin or the fall of man or whatever I assume something like how the animals will one day be different under the reign of Christ so they once were like that before. I'm really starting to love the NET translation for issues like these.

Maybe ALL the animals talked back then, and so she wouldnt have been surprised by it talking to her. Then, after the fall, they lost the ability.

Adam studied and named all the creatures, I don’t think there’s any reference to Eve having done the same.

Well it makes it clear in revelation the serpent is Satan/Lucifer so we are using the context the bible provides to interpret it. It gives us focus on the direction of the interpretation.

It was a fire fox that spoke to Eve. It was cursed by God with a long body to crawl like a snake. The fox-snake, called Nguruvilu in the legends of Chile and the Jiao Dragon in ancient Chinese legends may be rooted from this ancient strange creature.

When God created the animals, he NEVER created snakes, snakes are a devolution of the serpent, that was cursed to lose it's legs, God never created a cursed animal, everything was GOOD 🎉

Satan wasn't sentenced to crawl on his belly, but if he was then why punish all snakes? Snake skeletons show tiny leg bones and this says why they're so vestigial .

You’re right, Satan wasn’t sentenced to crawl on his belly. See Rev 19:20 for his fate. Ancient readers of Genesis knew the being who tempted Eve wasn’t a snake.

@@myinternetname5911 The word cursed can also mean banished or punished so I believe this was referencing Satans freedom of movement to roam the heavens revoked and kept grounded to the dust of the earth. So then when Satan came before the Lord in heaven like with the story of Job it was under Gods intent to allow him to enter into heaven.
@bobgriffin316
@bobgriffin316 9 ай бұрын
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep Satan was not in the book of Job. That was "the adversary". The Hebrew has word "the" before the word satan.. Hebrew does the same as English with word "the". If your name is John you are not called "the John". Michael Heiser points this out on one of his videos here on KZbin. Think about it. Why would Satan be in Heaven with God and why would God listen to Satan?
@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep
@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep 9 ай бұрын
@@bobgriffin316 And you are making a pointless distinction. What other adversary could there be other than Satan that can come before God? Lucifer aka Satan had been made King and Priest over the earth the bible said he had a throne and sanctuary before his fall. Earth was his domain, it's why he caused the fall of man it was his motive of why he was jealous God gave dominion to man. It's why Christ then had to come incarnate as a man to perform the work of the cross on behalf of humanity remember he died and went to hell and defeated Satan taking back his authority. That authority he only had from causing the fall of man in the garden. It's also why God told Adam he had to subdue the earth. Satan formerly Lucifer had legal ground to come before God after corrupting man either that or he still held it from before his fall. Take your pick. Motive stays the same and narrative doesn't really change either way. Heiser is wrong about some things, I remember there was something about revelation of the trinity in the old testament and he attributed it to something else. He also only thought demons were from fallen nephelim when that also is not true the bible outlines a preadamic race Lucifer caused to fall on the earth that are primarily what we consider demons and there is extensive evidence to establish it.
