Even if I don't use this (I will), I think it was worth making just because it looks neat. The dowel on the crank turned out to be unusable, since the crank it too small, but it works just fine turning it with my fingers.
@neilscole
@neilscole 5 жыл бұрын
You should tweak your design and then patent it and sell the design/build instructions. The hand-crank could possibly be a forth gear?

Awesome remedy for an all too common problem! I agree about the dowel, a gear with finger spaces would be better and it will feel like you are turning the nut.

You could make a hole of the size of your finger right where the dowel is and use just one finger to turn the crank...

that’s really fancy. i pur earth magnets all over the drive motor that sits directly under the nut so maybe one of them catches the nut before it gets buried in the saw dust. maybe you could add a regular magnet to hold that nut in that drive tool so you don’t accidentally drop it and have to build another tool to retrieve it....like a magnet on a stick. you did a nice job as usual john....cheers mate btw, don’t you and your friend mathius have a jig to cut those gears?

It is a great idea and you really did a good job building it. However it fix a problem that doesn’t really exist. If you raise the blade up as high as it will go. The nut is just below the surface and easy to start. Second question is why four gears. Three or five would have made the nut turn in the correct direction.
