You were spot on to mention what Larnell did during the synth solo, and his following the horns with his kick. I think MR Lewis may be the best accompanist in the business - what he did behind Cory Henry's solo on Lingus was nothing short of amazing!

Yeah he’s flowing the chart...normally in big band arrangements...the licks the horns play are accented by the drummer and the percussionist to further lock the groove with the bass and rhythm player; ultimately culminating in a “pocket” rhythm section. He’s dope for sure!!
