I feel like I love this album because while it clearly has some thrash influences, it is still quintessentially King Gizz. You know it as soon as you hear it. King Gizz is criminally underrated. Might be the best live band I've seen in years.

I think that you're way to sure about your opinion for something so subjective. How do you even define what a best rock album of the year is? Is it the one you personally liked the most? But how many are there you haven't even heard about? I'm just scratching the surface of the questions one might want to ask themselves here, because I'm not about to write it all. Anyway, the album I personally liked the most is O Monolith by Squid. Do check it out. Is it the best rock album of the year? I don't even know why I'm writing this comment, let alone the answer for a question this vague.

I’d say the album is more thrash/stoner metal than just hard rock

Definitely has those elements. Which is why it’s cool that I doesn’t fit under just one label. ✌🏼

this album has a companion album called The Silver Chord. They take the riffs and melodies and make a dance Kraftwerk type album with it. Also the lyrics and story behind this album I think often gets extremely overlooked and is extremely interesting.

I’ve listened to it a little. Wasn’t my thing personally but their ability to shift genres so effortlessly is incredible.

I agree Petro Dragonic is a way better album. Especially the parts where Joey starts to sing in Latin@@canaan_may
