I think he's done because the hardest thing in the world is to win a supercross title he had it in his grasp and lost it. The stress of going through 17 rounds is so great you have to be superhuman to endure it. That's why riders retire they just can't take it anymore. They know just one small mistake and it's over the odds are stacked against you in a huge way.

I did not get to see this race in Denver but had plans on going to Thunder Valley, CO (3rd outdoor race every year). I live in Littleton CO, and he is my hero. He has been the fastest 450 guy on the planet for many years. Heck, I followed him 250 class religiously as well. I am completely devestated about this injury. He's out front, leading the race, if he finishes 1st he wins back to back, SX450 titles, three (3) total, and he also won an SX250 before he went to 450 (that would have made it 4). He also won 4 Motocross Championships. I want to hold on to hope, like everyone else, but understanding what he has accomplished, his age 30, I don't see him coming back. He has a family now. He has already won everything he can win like four times. I wish him Godspeed in his recovery, thanks for being a great champion. What I appreciated most was he was always humble and didn't like the spotlight so much. I probably won't follow this sport like I did without Tomac racing. Good Luck ET3

I don't know what he will decide to do. Age is not on his side and such a devastating injury. To come back from a torn Achilles is a gigantic task in any sport. If this is the last we see of him racing ,I'm glad he moved into second all time in SX wins behind McGrath. There's alot of young talent coming up and at his age I'm just not sure that he can or would want to come back. He's accomplished everything a rider can in SX,MX. Whatever you do, Eli, we love you, and good luck.

When he went out of the race a tear almost dropped. I was literally sick to my stomach afterwards. ELI Tomac has not only brought my interest to an all time high for sx and motocross but he is my favorite athlete of all time period . I know your a huge fan as well . I don’t see him ending his career this way , but on the other hand he’s accomplished more then most riders ever will , i can also see him retiring. But I think that if he can come back from this injury he will . Either way it’s been one hell of a ride and I will always love Eli Tomac .

I hope he decides whatever makes him happy in the end. I have the feeling that he’ll just hang it up since he was already on that halfway out the door type thinking on retirement, but at the same time I feel like his mentality of a competitor and his dad’s mindset is a never give up type vibe so I also wouldn’t be surprised if he lines up for SX 2024 only and rides off into the sunset. But man still in disbelief that on what looked to be such a routine jump and ever so slight OJ that he injured his achelliez…. The bike didn’t even look like it took that big of a compression either. Like how many jumps like that has a rider like Eli done in their life? 10’s of thousands? Such a freak injury and just gutted to see a legend like him go out like that. Also how gnarly is Eli to most likely just in agonizing pain and bewilderment as to what happened to just shake his head and ride off to the A-Stars medical truck. You see achelliez injuries in other sports like football, soccer and basketball and when that happens those guys are on the ground writhing in pain and rolling around holding their leg immobilized. These dudes are truly made of special stuff in our sport of Dirt Bikes.

I've been following the ET3 since 2014, it's not fair no no no after missing a race, after everything he did to end his career like this, I don't know what to say, I don't know who to complain to, I don't see motocross anymore, after almost a decade I cultivated good feelings, but if in the end the sport is enough.

BTW: I do agree with an educated theory someone else posted on this injury - he tore (or damaged) his achilles in New Jersey, when he crashed in practice and limped away hurt, That was the talk of that day but he mustered up the balls to manage the championship and ride hurt and finish 2nd, then 2nd at Nashville. This injury, I think caught up to him just one race too late in Denver

Awsome season for Eli from the outside looking in. The championship would have been the icing on the cake and a big piece for his legacy but it was not meant to be. Much like many of the greats before him he can hold his head high after setting win records all season but the moto gods struck him down (which they seem to like to do at times ,just ask JS7 or CR22 both whom he passed on the wins list this year).

There is a reason you don't see many riders in their 30's racing at the top level. The body starts breaking down and is much easier to injure after 30. However the most 30 year olds are currently racing now and every one of them are injured.

I know you never raced MX or really know much about the history of the sport, (as so many "experts" on YT today), but many championships have been lost to injury. I know,---it is new to you. But unfortunately, it is a result of the dangers of the sport, especially after the 4-stroke made the racing about 30% faster and tracks of equality with little room for error in rhythms sections. It is a bummer, but I don't understand why anybody is surprised. You must be new, a self appointed "expert". The faster 4-strokes forced on the industry by an EPA dictatorship made the racing too fast, 8-9 out of 10 of the top contenders are out with injury in less than a half season, (more injuries by far than any sport in the world), and the Champion is now the guy who gets injured the less. More surprises coming your way. Simply put. You are not qualified with the experience or knowledge to have a valid opinion yet, and YT is full of you.
