Hey Keemi! again - congrats on the marriage, very happy for you both!, I am one of your "older/auntie" followers and just wanted to encourage you on your non-meat effort. I have not eaten beef or pork for 20 years, but still eat fish and sometimes chicken. Coming from my culture (African American/Caribean) meat is a big deal. my family learned to adjust and when ive gone to dinners with older family members at their homes and I know there will not be anything for me to eat, I just do veggies or bring a dish for myself. Its hard at first, but most people respect overall. keep it up- you will feel better in long run!

Just wanted to encourage you in your journey to reduce or eliminate meat from your daily diet. I'm on the same journey and have found a pretty good balance that I'm happy with. Just remember to be lenient with yourself when you need to be and don't try to fit into anyone else's idea of what you should be doing. I find that's what helps me stick with my original goal. Even if I'm not perfect, 95% of my daily life involves no animal products and I'm good with that. In time, you will find what you feel good about too.

Keemi- my husbands aunt is a vegetarian, she eats at all the places the family has lunch and dinners at. She doesn’t make it a big deal, she will get a salad or order things without the meat. Sometimes she will bring her own boca meat or mock meat and get veggies at restaurant

You should try the carbonara one with milk (after draining the liquid, add as much milk as you like), didn't try with the 떡볶이 but it's amazing just with the instant noodle kind!

I was thinking would it be more economical to actually buy rice cakes and just add them to the standard flavor ramen(I.e black bean, spicy chicken, carbonara etc.). Or maybe buying the ramen and rice cake versions separately then mixing them both together. I'm not sure if the suace is different for this one though.

Oh my goodness Keemi! You look so cute with that beanie. You also always make me crave things and want to eat noodles everyday. My husband thinks you're a bad influence on me. I'm only kidding. He could totally imagine us hanging out and hitting up some good restaurants and finish up the night with some noodles. I haven't had much meat either and like you said, you just don't crave it as much anymore. I honestly feel better and my body isn't as congested and feel sluggish. It's not in you head Keemi! I actually became a Pescetarian(but still ate dairy, there's a name for this but I can't remember what it is), anyways I felt so much more healthier and my stomach wasn't as bloated. I stopped being one because of health reasons and I wasn't doing the diet correctly so I had hair falling off and lost a lot of weight too fast, now that I am continuing to eat meat, I do feel a lot different.

I'm glad Keemi that your mom was okay with you changing your diet. I've never understood why folks get upset because a person goes vegan or vegetarian. It doesn't matter what race you are we'll all meat eaters until we choose not to be. There's nothing wrong with that. I know you said your mom is an older traditional Korean but that doesn't matter. How does giving up meat say anything about you being korean? You not eating meat doesn't change anything about who you are or your korean heritage.
