I didnt play Baldurs Gate 3 so im not commenting on IT, but to me TOTK is probably the best game Ive ever played and I think its a game of a generation, again reinventing the genre and making every step feeling special...it just never gets boring after 100, 200 hours of gameplay. Only thing holding it back sadly is the Switchs hardware, although the fact that it runs as it runs and look as it looks on Nintendo Switch is a freaking miracle and thats a fact. Nevermind the game awards, its a game we will be playing and talking about years to come! Also game had a day one patch and thats all i think, no big bugs, no game breaking shit nothing.....its a miracle for sure!

TOTK had a disjointed narrative, the worst Ganondorf we’ve ever had in Zelda game and a reused map with very repetitive additions to it. The mechanics were fantastic but most other things were disappointing. BG3 has an incredible narrative with 17,000 different endings /outcomes, basically limitless replayability and just crushed expectations and set new standards for gaming. I’m sorry but Tears was just nowhere near bg3 in quality.

The creative freedom you have in combat is absolutely incredible. The game is a masterpiece on gameplay , narrative, cutscenes voice acting. It’s even 60 dollars !!! May I need to say more?? Zelda got slaughtered by baldurs gate in pretty much every game award show that been out there. This is a game that will set the benchmark in their genre moving forward.

My opinion is probably biased because i grew up on games like BG (Bg1 and 2, Torment, Arcanum, Fallout 1,2 ). But i did play nearly every Zelda game (Haven't played the oracle ones and CDI ones)and nearly every CRPG other than these 2 nominees. And if i had to sacrifice playing one over the other id probably pick to sacrifice Zelda. Lucky i dont have to make such a hard choice so il end up plying booth.

BG3 deserved to win. GOTY isn’t just about being a good game GOTY is about making a significant impact and mark on the Gaming Industry and Community. And no game this year made an impact like BG3. BG3 straight up shook developers and had them genuinely terrified that it was gonna set a new standard for the gaming industry. BG3 had Gamers and Devs getting into straight flame wars online with each other. BG3 represents a movement in gamers that realized for the first time in a while that Developers don’t HAVE to do all the crappy monetization schemes that they have spent the last decade and a half desperately trying to convince us that they HAVE to shove down our throats in order to be profitable. Here was a game that said “Nah we aren’t gonna do ANY of that AND we’re gonna make an AMAZING game full of thought and care and you know what? People are gonna pay us for it and we’re gonna be successful because we give GAMERS what they want and don’t focus solely on SHAREHOLDERS. BG3 became GOTY because it is so “of the moment” it stood up and made that statement in a world that has been made MORE than ready for it. People in general are so sick and tired of big companies screwing them over and telling them that there is no better way. We’ve been screaming at these companies for YEARS to STOP with the over monetization of gaming but they refused to listen. They outright ignored us at best and at worst paid lip service to our complaints then did whatever they wanted to do anyway. and then came Larian Studios saying to the industry…”you know what? These gamers are right! Let’s actually give them what they are literally BEGGING for.” BG3 was a vindication for the gaming community and really feels like the most significant blow to the industry’s narrative about “not being able to make games like BG3 anymore” that we have seen in a long long time. And THAT ladies and gentlemen is why Baldurs Gate 3 won the Game of the Year Award for 2023

i only played Zelda and SpiderMan 2, I think Baldur deserved it plus they won 6 awards so it’s obvious. It doesn’t always have to be a super fast action pace to be a fun game. Baldur did was they created multiple different scenarios that no game can replicate. I see bad criticism from these gamers just watch the weird sex scenes, turn based battle field and act like it doesn’t deserve it. Because they wont play it.

Legit Zelda would won if it wasnt for BG3 , im huge fans of both but BG3 legit sweeps the floor with any game this year , it actually made huge impact as Elden ring did , Zelda did not , will not reach its level , Came without big IP name to carry it , from 25years old game into Shelves to the mass audince , Zelda didn't impacted as hard as BG3 , its BOTW but with couple more tuning/Layers , thats it

@@songoku2711 RE4 should not have been nominated because it is a remake. Making new graphics and modernizing the combat doesn't make it a new game all of a sudden - at its heart it is still the same 2005 game it has alwaysw been. In my opinion remakes should not be nominated for any category with the possible exception of Best performance if they re-recorded the dialogue with new actors. Maybe they can introduce a new category Remake of the Year and put all the remakes in that category - remakes are more common than ever before and there are a lot more of them than most people realize. I'm pretty sure that none of the games you mentioned was the runner-up either btw considering that Alan Wake 2 won Best Narrative and Best Game Direction.

We as fans are biast. Of course we want the games we played to win, it's only natural, and it is very hard to keep a neutral opinion with these years candidates. I think Zelda got a very important award with the Action & Adventure category, and that gives it the praise that it deserves. I sank 210 hours into Baldur's gate. I bought it not having a clue about Dungeons and Dragons in it's early beta phase, so I wasn't a fan of the series or even the studio. And man, the experience was phenomenal. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely stands deserving of a GOTY. You should give it a go sometime! As a creative I am actually relieved it got the award. I think it's a lesson for other studios like EA or Ubisoft that keep putting out mediocre unfinished titles, purely relying on names of big IPs, and consistently getting away with it. BG3 was a labour of love that wasn't released until it was done and ready, and it shows. It getting the recognition it deserves is important for gaming in general. TO wrap this up: I think all the nominees for GOTY deserved it. I will play every single one of them, they look amazing, and I am proud of the teams behind them.
