Actually, if you listen to a professional version of it, they play it very slowly. It's supposed to be slow and funky

BigPapaMitchell I agree, this tempo is to fast for the song as well as the band not demonstrating dynamics other than ff

@BigPapaMitchell in the washburne jazz ensemble, we play it differently than anyone else
@oldmanjenkins4415 жыл бұрын
everybody plays it so slowly, yet, at the top of the page it says "Half time feel" so, cut "c" in half and what do you get? Cut time, the real way it should be played

We're playing this in jazz band. I have to say the trap set player was very obnoxious. Otherwise very good!

After I've been listening to other versions of it, I find this relatively sucky. Not because of there is anything participially wrong - but I just find it as a drummer and brass player, that this song has been exceeding it's maximum speed - and therefore are the brass players having difficulties holding their breaks and notes. Besides that, a bass player could be used to hold the rhythm, since the rhythm section is the most important section in a bigband. It's the heart so to speak :)
