This song came out as I parted ways with my longest love to this date. I decided to move from Nashville to California to live my surf dreams. I got a house in front of the ocean to make her happy. But she loved the south. We kept trying to live in both places for 2 years knowing it would never work out. We were in denial. This brought so much toxicity and hurt to our bond. One day we just ended it and we never said goodbye. Recently I found out she’s married to a good ole boy and living happily ever after 🥲

This is so unrelated to the song itself or what it's about but, it came on auto-play this summer while I was on a bus to go home and be with family for the one week memorial service of my late uncle, who had passed away a week prior, suddenly. I was shattered and this came on, and for some reason I broke down and couldn't hold it together. My sister was sitting next to me trying to hold her own tears. It was 36 hours of no sleep for me and lots of weed once I came back home, only to get another call and learn that my best friend passed away. It was the shittiest summer of my entire life and I will forever dread it. But for some reason I come back to this song whenever it hits the hardest, and it just reminds me of my daze and delirium caused by grief and sleep deprivation, and how I lost myself within it to find even a little bit of comfort.
