I really like the way you net the fish, extract the hook in the water, reverse the net and release without handling. Brilliant - gives the fish every chance to recover. Good stuff.

Thanks , I try not to touch the fish unless absolutely necessary , occasionally you get a bad hook up or a fish that wraps itself but that cant be helped . I play my fish hard and fast too which again doesn't exhaust them and they go back strongly . There really is no excuse for poor fish handling now days . Thanks for watching and subscribing .

Your videos are great. I've moved recently from NZ to Scotland for the next year or so and your content has been very helpful in helping me adapt to the different styles and methods. The washing line method isn't used often back home so it's great to learn all these new tricks.

@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 Yes it's certainly doing well, I enjoy the tinkering and experimenting with different flies. Some days a rockerka dry fly fished on the point has done really well for me. I think they take it for a daddy as it's very scraggly. Would love to hear or see a vid on your favourite autumn flies. I'm finding this time of year some days they are wanting naturals and then the next day they want dirty big lures. Would love to hear your approach this time of year.

Great video, the only problem I have with using a long leader, I spend more time getting my line out of knots, than I do fishing. I have only been fly fishing for the last two years 😁
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67695 ай бұрын
I would suggest there's a little rush in your cast . Longer leaders requires smoother casting and bigger pauses between false casts to allow the leader to properly straighten in flight . Thanks for watching buddy .

Yes mate , saw your post . Can be a head banger in those conditions . If you dont know the lake its difficult to cover it in practice with just half a day .. There ae fish all over , and Gaynes has been tonked the last few weeks . Dont let it get you down .. onwards and upwards .. none of us started in the comps and won straight away .. its a steep learning curve but well worth sticking with it ! ... Thanks for watching mate

Been gorging your videos like a trout on buzzers 😃. Just restarting fly fishing after 20 years and beginning to learn casting again (needs work). I bought a 9'6" Wychwood Flow after seeing you use them. My old rod was a Wychwood Sharpshooter but found it a bit fast and stiff. I noticed your Flow in this video is quite a muted grey but when mine arrived it is a very bright white/silver colour. Did they change them at some point?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769Ай бұрын
Glad you are enjoying the vids and thanks for watching ! The whole Wychwood range went through a re brand this summer . The New Flow rods are the exact same blank just a light grey colour now . I can also recommend the new True fly FA range if your looking for something a little lighter with a bit of poke to it .

Loved that video. So many fish and your poor boat partner watching you reel in fish after fish 😂. Ive seen in another video you prefer an 8wt rod for windier and washing line work? What would be your length preference, 9, 10, 11ft? Or is there not much in it?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67694 ай бұрын
I will select an 8wt set up when I need to generate more line speed so yes generally windy days when I am fighting to control my back cast . Flat calm days when I want increased speed to promote turn over and when I am using big bulky un aerodynamic flies ..

Hi Tim, excellent video and as informative as ever thanks. I’m back there later this week, when conditions are going to be quite different … warm, sunny, gently westerly breeze. Would you recommended the same tactics (floater/washing line) when there’s likely little cloud cover, or would you recommend fishing deeper, or even maybe use a completely different method?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67693 жыл бұрын
It would definitely be my method to start .. if it’s really bright I would use this set up on a midge tip to get it down a little deeper . I’m there later in the week myself and yes conditions look a lot different from the last few weeks .

Hi Tim going Grafham tomorrow have u any tips
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67692 жыл бұрын
There loads of fish at the stumps and hill farm but the strong wind will be blowing right in there tomorrow so fishing buzzers etc wont be possible , pulling lures on a di3 or 5 will get them . 300 yrds from the bank and in . any lures , they arnt fussy . If you want some buzzer sport head down to the plummers end of the dam . 3 or 4 crisp packets on a floater fished as slow as you can . We had a crazy session there today so keep searching and you will get them . Tight lines.

Instead of using a Booby could you use a Fario bung on the point? Also it sounds daft but what's the difference between a Blob and a Fab?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67693 жыл бұрын
You could use a bung but it would be terrible to cast and you are removing a very effective fish catching fly from the set up . The booby is a major attraction with all the disturbance it creates . The FAB stand for foam arse blob , it’s a blob with a little foam tied in at the rear of the hook to offset the weight of the hook so it sinks very very slowly .
@davidhumphreys70353 жыл бұрын
@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 thanks for that, i take it you degrease the leader?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67693 жыл бұрын
@@davidhumphreys7035 No need when using flurocarbon and nymphs , the weight of the hooks and the initial pulls on the cast sink the leader . I only degrease when fishing dries as a rule .
