Here's my 2 year old daughter's full natural wash day routine for toddlers from start to finish. You’ll get to see how I Wash, Condition, Moisturise, Detangle and Style her natural hair.
I wash her hair every 1-3 weeks depending on the hairstyle she’s wearing. So if it’s in a protective hairstyle such as; braids or cornrows, then i’ll wash it every 2-3 weeks, but if not, then i’ll wash her hair weekly.
My daughter has a range of curl patterns throughout her hair; 3b, 3c & 4a hair types.
This routine is suitable for all types of hair ranging from 3a to 4c hair

At least she’s allowing you to wash her hair. She is too cute, even when she’s crying. How often do you wash her hair?
@HealthyAfroHair

Awww...thanks 😁 Yeah that’s true, it could have been worse. So if her hairs in braids or cornrows, I tend to wash it every 2-3 weeks, but when it’s not, it’s weekly.

I'm reading her lips and she's like owww owww, my daughter is 3 and goes the same, and I'm like my hands ain't even in your hair 😂😂😂. May there never know the hot comb struggle. She's mixed race but has 2 type hair but you would think she had my type 4c labour.

Hi Julie, thank you for sharing your gorgeous daughters wash day routine. My question is what do you do daily for her hair? Do you moisturise daily and do you out oil in her scalp if at all? Maybe you can do a daily routine for her as well if you have time. Thanks for the guidance, you truly have helped me with my hair growth journey.
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 6 жыл бұрын
Hey, you’re very welcome! Yes, I moisturise her hair twice a day (morning & night). Also, I don’t put anything on her scalp, but I’ll try and do a video on her daily routine at some point. But I’m so happy to hear my videos have been useful to you 🤗

Great video I use the same shampoo on my son but then use the leave in cause his hair is short.

Thank you! Oh...ok! I used to use the leave-in too, but didn’t quite like how it made her hair feel. But it’s good it works well for your son.

Thanks Julie for this video, so helpful. She is really cute and cries just like my daughter when washing her hair. Could you please tell me if Olivia gets knits on her hair and if not how do you avoid it. My little girl gets knits a lot on her hair.

Hey, thanks hun and you’re welcome! Are you talking about head lice/nits? Like little insects or eggs in the hair? If so, no she’s never had it before. A lot of the time it’s usually passed from head to head at nursery/school and Olivia isn’t at nursery yet.

Healthy Afro Hair no dear talking about fluffy little white things. Normally gathers where I hold her ponytail or even when loose in afro state. My girl isn't in nursery yet
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 6 жыл бұрын
Oh...I know what you mean. Now that you mention it, yes, Olivia does have little white fluff in her hair and their quite difficult to remove. It's never really bothered me and sometimes I don't always notice it. But once I wash her hair, it's gone until it returns again. I think it's a build up of dust that gathers around those areas for some reason.

When did you start applying products to her hair? My daughter is only 7months old and currently Im currently using oils to moisturise her hair.
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 6 жыл бұрын
I started applying products once she reached 6 months and it was just basically washing her hair with shampoo. Then eventually, as she got older, I began implementing conditioners & leave-ins. But I've always tried to keep her hair moisturised. But oils like (Coconut Oil or Olive Oil) are ok to begin with and once she gets older, you can start using moisturising products.

She did so well. As soon as I put the washing cap on my 19mo daughters hair, she rips it off. It currently takes me and my husband to wash her hair 😭
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 6 жыл бұрын
Haha...there's been a couple of times (prior to the washing cap) when my fiance had to help me out too 😁 But yes, she did do well and I'm surprised she didn't rip it off as well. But keep trying, cos I've used the cap 3 times on her hair now and she's really getting use to it.

My daughter is 22 months and doesn’t allow me to wash nor comb her hair easily. Anything I put in her hair ends up on the floor after 2 minutes.

Unfortunately, that wouldn’t work for me. But to be honest, it’s not where I do it, it’s just the wash day process she doesn’t like. But I’ve washed her hair a number of times since this video and she’s getting better each time.
