She has to do it despite the fact she even admits what she is doing is completely flawed and even came to realization that it makes her a bad person. The Japanese government is the main culprit here, not Makima. As they fuel all this madness and call it "A small price to pay". They're evil to the point that Prime Minister is even willing to sacrifice 10000 children to remove aging, and they have no problem with that. (I'll keep it short) Firstly, she has contract with Prime Minister and Chief Cabinet Secretary. This leaves her no choice but to do whatever the Japanese government wants. Making her another puppet. And Contracts cannot be broken. (The one who breaks the contract has to pay a heavy price, something Makima or anyone CANNOT afford.) In the End, Makima dream was to have a healthy Equal Relationship and wanted/longed for hugs and a Family. Thankfully Denji understood her and still forgave her and loves her from bottom of his heart (Despite the suffering he been through because of her) And he took over her sins to save her from people's grudges against her and her constant suffering and misery. (It really makes me sad that people overlook all of this and straight up hate Makima. [Western Fans]. Meanwhile, the same fans love charecters like Esdeath and Griffith who were absolute EVIL MONSTERS and took pleasure in their evil crimes. I can write entire paragraphs on what crimes they committed. Makima on the other hand did because she HAD to do. She never took pleasure in the flawed stuff she did. (And knew it was going to backfire at some point.) Compare Makima to them, Makima would look like an innocent soul, like a newborn baby. She would p!$h her pants and tremble in fear if she gets know the crimes those characters committed. These double standards are insane and I HATE THEM so much.)
