Nice..how do you seal the hole in the trash can?
@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance3 жыл бұрын
It comes with two gaskets that you tighten up to make a watertight seal

Hey this is a great idea, but what are you using to keep residual gray water from back flowing into the cities clean water?
@superfuzz1292 жыл бұрын
City water is pressurized. It can't flow backward

This is a great video, but be sure to check with your local jurisdiction on grey water. Where I live (San Diego) the grey water can never be visible or airborne. Our grey water must drain into a mulch basin.

Hi, just would like to know if it is good for lawn by reusing laundry water directly from the washing machine without filtering it. I use detergent without phosphor. Is this detergent harmful for the soil? Thx.
@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance7 жыл бұрын
+LeiChiYang I use ECO detergent and it seems to be fine. It says it wont hurt plants

what size sprinkler system do you have and size pump
@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance7 жыл бұрын
+Zachary Bowles Hi Zach, It's a 12 station sprinkler system. The pump brings the water pressure up to 40 psi

Quick and Easy 5 minute Appliance Fixes ok thanks, I'm trying to design my system now so that the downstairs laundry and bathroom shower and sink dump into a holding tank like yours. once full it then pumps outside to fill a larger holding tank combining the upstairs bathroom, and kitchen. upon fulfillment of that tank pump into a pressurized sprinkler system that will rotate zones every day or every other day. Your idea has re-inspired me to keep designing what wasn't looking hopeful.

Ive used your set up for about a year now. Thanks for sharing, any tips on filters? Ive been clogging up my sprinklers with lint. I used a tube sock on the washing maching hose but its span only goes for a week before it too gets clogged.
@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance6 жыл бұрын
Me too, I need to keep on cleaning the sock

Did you find a solution for the lint ?
@byrnecore3 жыл бұрын
@@josephpineda6138 A lot of other systems either feed grey water into a reed bed system to help clean this out, or a settling tank which waits for separating of the contents before feeding the sprinkler system. I'm curious if you have solved this a different way though.

What soap do you use? I hope to do this for my vegetable garden.

+little house guy This may not be ideal for vegetable gardens. We use Eco detergent.

Quick and Easy 5 minute Appliance Fixes I thought so, bummer. Nevertheless, I can use all this for the front yard and save the fresh water for my vegetable garden.

I like your idea of using two switches: one to toggle power to the sprinkler controller and one to toggle power to the pump. Thanks for that idea. Even though it now seems like it should have been obvious to me, I had not actually thought of that. How has this system been working for you? Have you improved it? Are there any improvements you are thinking of making or wish you had made when you originally built it? As the sayings go, “Experience is the thing you get right after you need it.” and “The devil is in the details.” Is the float switch you are using similar to this one: www.amazon.com/Float-Switch-Septic-System-Sump/dp/B0064BHEVM ? Also, is the pump you are using similar to this one: www.amazon.com/Wayne-PC2-115-Volt-Portable-Transfer/dp/B000CPZTEK/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1442726776&sr=1-1&keywords=water+pump ?

Thank you, it's been working great. I did put a small filter at the end of the washing machine drain hose to catch small cloth debris that can clog the sprinkler heads. The float switches close the circuit for the pump and the other for the sprinkler valve when the drain water fills the tank the switches rise with the water and when they tilt the circuits are energized and it waters the plants
