I wear my hair in mini twists and I skip the prepoo altogether. I wash, deep condition and moisturize then I take down each twist, finger detangle then retwist. That process is faster for me with less stress on my hair

Thanks for sharing, beautiful hair. I wash in a similar way in 10 sections. But I found that braiding the hair instead of twisting keeps my hair stretched and detangled throughout the whole process. When I used to wash in twists I found my hair would easily get tangled back up like you said. Just one braid for each section, so what I do is: Finger detangle a section > braid it, move on to next section> shampoo with all 10 braids still in, squeezing shampoo into braids> rinse> take down each braid one at a time, apply deep conditioner, rebraid section> sit under dryer> rinse DC with braids still in. Hair is still perfectly detangled when i unbraid each section to apply leave-ins and style.
@lukadasilva70502 жыл бұрын
Can you still deep condition with the braids in?I have shortish/medium 4C hair. It’s not quite long to braid or do smaller twist sections but I find it vital to twist prior to avoid tangling cause my hair tangles easily. I detangle before washing and put my hair in medium twists. I find it a hassle to always take them down and put them up since they’re quite a lot. Can I just deep condition with them in to reduce the amount of times I need to take them down and twist them back up again ?

Honestly, when my hair was longer, I would finger detangle in the shower under the warm water, then be fine and wouldn’t even need to twist my hair up unless I wanted to (low porosity coarse 4c hair, single strand knots were my main issue rather than general tangling. My very thick hair strands were more interested in coiling around themselves than their buddies). As long as my ends were trimmed regularly, I didn’t experience a lot of tangling. But I know a lot of girls with finer hair strands have issues with the tangling. Now that I have a twa again, it’s not long enough to bother with twisting and sectioning. If you have issues with excessive tangling, I’d check your ends and think about trimming off half a centimeter, and cut out any single strand knots while you’re at it.

Use less twist 6-8 is good enough. Braid at the root 3 inches down... then twist or just braid the entire section. Squeeze shampoo into braid and squeeze out of braid 👍🏽

Little sister, your hair is beautiful. I tried washing my hair in twist and regardless of how tight I twist, my hair unravels. I always detangle before washing, I like to use ACV spray with oil and the tangles melt away. However, I still have to detangle during conditioning. I am not sure if it is because I have fine hair (not to be mistaken for sparse or thinning hair), but I have noticed when I wash/condish in twist or not, my hair tangles. If you have any suggestions on how to best wash in twist I am open to hear.

I really don't know much about my hair; whether it's high or low porosity. I only know I have 4c kinky hair. But I'm really curious about this protein issue. I don't know if I should be using products with protein in them it to avoid protein all together. I don't know when protein is needed or when it isn't needed. Can you please 🙏🏽 explain this? Would you recommend washing the hair in twist if the hair is short? (I.e. above shoulder length and shorter?)
@westafricanbaby4 жыл бұрын
Hi love! I don’t think it’s that necessary. The main reason I wash in twists is because my hair is too long for me to wash directly, it will tangle BADLY. Also, I like to reuse my parts. I don’t want to have to repart my hair for the twists, after washing, because it’s a lot of work. If your hair is shorter and you already have a wash routine that you’re comfortable with, you really don’t have to wash in twists.
