This is how my local junior team cleans stuff like this up: get a really long and thick rope, like you'd find on a ship. have someone on either end of it and have them skate along the boards. literally just drags whatever is on the ice into one big pile

He was *my* player for nearly half my life now. This was my second favorite moment for him, the love he got that night was amazing. The best was definitely when Ovi started screaming his name to come get the Cup. The was the moment the tears started for me that night. This is why I love hockey. No matter what team you like, there's always a lot of respect for other teams and players for achievements such as this. I hate the caps as much as the next reasonable fan (😉) but kudos to backstrom for hitting that milestone!!!

1:06 So, the announcer says that Backstrom got his 1,000th NHL point with that goal. I looked up his profile on various sites, and he's shown to have 1,006 points at present. So, it seems he actually scored his 1,000th point a few nights ago, against EDM. Was confusing, due to the announcer.

He passed the 1000 point mark, but it took a little time to arrange for family to travel internationally and to get custom commemorative things made. They gave him an award and a golden stick and a custom set of golf clubs in a pregame ceremony plus obviously the 20,000 apples with his logo on it had to be ordered. Then they had to find a home game that worked and they weren't doing any other event for. So yeah it took a couple weeks for it to all come together.
