Washington College of Law commemorated MLK Day of Service with a community reading of excerpts from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “The Drum Instinct.” Known for its emphasis on seeking greatness through service, the sermon was delivered at Ebenezer Baptist Church on February 4, 1968.
The reading kicked off the 2023 MLK Day of Service sponsored by the WCL Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Affinity Relations, Office of Public Interest, and Student Bar Association. After the reading, the volunteers set off to participate in several service projects at new and existing community partners including:
• Martha’s Table Joyful Food Market at Leckie Educational Campus
• So Others Might Eat
• CC Prep
• N Street Village
• WCL Campus Garden
• Jackson-Reed High School
