I can't even thank you enough for your DC hack videos. I'm traveling there by myself in two weeks and have never been. Even though I live in a large city (L.A), I'm already intimidated with DC, yet do feel much better after absorbing your info. You have such a great, short formula and get right to the point. I wish I could book a tour with you, but after looking online, nothing seems to fit my schedule. Thanks Rob!

These are just my tips don’t call only text and if you talk to someone whisper. Remember to use maps! It’s not embarassing i live here and i still use it. And don’t talk to strangers. You need a card or a pass which can be bought at the machines. If you think you can still make the metro you can also run down the escalators but if you are a group don’t do it. You need your own card but if you have a baby just carry them :/ tap your card on the target. Sorry for being a nerd but have fun

Here’s a helpful tip for Apple users: Go to the Wallet app -> Tap the + button -> Tap the continue button if needed -> Tap SmarTrip card -> Type in the amount you desire -> And you can now use a SmarTrip card without carrying a real physical card. You might be asking yourself, “How the heck do you pay for it once I got my digital card?” Here how to pay when you got your digital card. Step 1: Turn your iPhone on to the Lock Screen. Step 2: Press the lock button 2 times when you at the Lock Screen. Step 3: Use Face ID or Touch ID when it prompts you to. Or you can press Pay with Passcode. If you don’t have any of those features set up, follow the instructions when you double pressed the lock button. Step 4: Hold the iPhone near the reader for how many times you need to. If you’re going by yourself, tap once. If you’re going with a group of 2, tap twice, and so on. I hope that this is helpful.

Those fare control devices you call "turnstiles" are actually "faregates." Turnstiles use rounded stainless-steel arms. Faregates have hard plastic barriers to prevent slip-through acts without being conspicuous, and not be unspotted by the station manager.

Hey, Rob, thanks for all your GREAT videos! You are doing so well and your videos are interesting, informative and just plain FUN to watch. Do you know anything about the new Museum of the Bible? I've watched their videos but was wondering if you had any "hacks" for getting around that part of town? Thanks!
@TripHacksDC6 жыл бұрын
That museum is right next to the Federal Center SW Metro station and two blocks south of the American Indian Museum. Super easy to get to.

Has the cost increased since this video was made?
@Drakeman20036 жыл бұрын
I know this is off topic, but if I were to go to a caps game someday, where are the best seats to watch the action of the game? Have you ever been? when should I arrive at the stadium? what sports do you like to watch or attend? how much money should I set aside and bring if I wanted to buy food and/or souvenirs?
@TripHacksDC6 жыл бұрын
A lot of these answers depend on what you're looking to spend. Lots of people consider seats right near the ice to be the best place to see the action but obviously those come at a higher cost. You can check the official team site to see what to expect for souvenirs. Food and beer is going to be expensive just like at any professional sports game.
@xye6 жыл бұрын
You can get a good view from basically anywhere in the stadium, even what many would consider nosebleeds still show you a view of the entire ice and allow you to see everything going on.

We are planning a trip to DC in a few weeks, so I wanted to thank you for all of the info and tips that you have given. The trip to DC was a bit overwhelming but your videos tremendously helped me to plan and answer a lot of my questions. So THANK YOU!!! I do have one question, what is the best way to get to Arlington Cemetery (Metro or walking) for a family of 6 with younger kids and could you do a video on Arlington Cemetery and everything to see over there? Thanks!
@TripHacksDC6 жыл бұрын
You can take the Blue line to Arlington Cemetery station or walk from the Lincoln Memorial (depends how much walking the kids can do). The things that most people try to see there are: 1. Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, 2. JFK Eternal Flame, 3. Arlington House. Enjoy your trip!
@kristeln.29736 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your answer and time!!
@xye6 жыл бұрын
Kristel Neiswander I'm not the one who made the video, but the best way in my opinion is definitely the Metro. Just make sure to go on their website and ensure that the Blue Line is not under construction that would impede the route to the Arlington cemetery. It is pretty out of the way if you're walking.

Great video, but would have liked to see a detailed look at how the machines work. You only showed a few of the buttons, but I have seen what appears to be numerous buttons and functions on those machines. What is the difference between buttons, A, B, and C?
@TripHacksDC6 жыл бұрын
You use the A, B and C buttons to choose which option you want on the screen. At 3:03 I picked B because that's the one that corresponded to "purchase single card" on the screen.
@adammathers48796 жыл бұрын
I guess my question is what does each option mean? What do they represent? I don't know what the difference between "pass" or "single card" is.
@TripHacksDC6 жыл бұрын
A pass gives you unlimited rides. A single card is just the card that you put money on and it deducts it as you ride. Check out this video for more info on that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oH69Yp2vqs2HapI

I have 4 great pictures of me inside Sliver Line MetroRails. I have 4 great pictures of me inside Yellow Line MetroRails. I have 3 great pictures of me inside Green Line MetroRails. I’ve gotten so many pictures of me inside Old MetroRail Cars before they got rid of them! That makes me feel happy!! My grandmother lives in Silver Spring, MD. My cousins, aunts, and uncles live in Olney, MD, Columbia, MD, Dayton, MD, Raleigh, NC, and Bettendorf, IA. Whenever we go on the MetroRail, we almost always either start from Rockville Station on the Red Line or Glenmont Station on the Red Line. It varies between us starting from Rockville and Glenmont.
