Back in the 1800s DC actually elected a Republican delegate, but then after just 1 full term, the seat was abolished, when it came back in the late 60s it was solid blue

DC was made by the constitutional convention because they felt that giving the capitol to one state would give said state too much power.

@stephenhill273 Yeah, that was over 200 years ago. Statehood wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the odd way the senate is designed which is the only reason to oppose their statehood.

Should DC become a state like it’s neighbors Virginia and Maryland? (Opinion question) I couldn’t believe that I got lots of comments for this 😅😅😅. Forget to check this until now My opinion about this that they should allow DC to have statehood as DC qualify for all of qualities that statehood requires but also balances it out with another conservative state like Puerto Rico as you can know, there’s a fight going on in the US congress about granting Puerto Rico statehood. What do you guys think?

I would be ok if it got a single seat in the house. The population is actually about what you would expect from a house member. I wouldn’t add a seat, but just take one next time they’re apportioned. But 2 senators too? Ridiculous (and yes I think it’s ridiculous that states like Wyoming get senators)
