The Columbia River area is so cool and now that we've seen so much more of it we could make that a much longer adventure. It felt like we just flew thru there. Spokane WA was new to us also so that we pretty cool to see. Thanks for watching. Have you ever been to the PNW?

@@WorkingOnExploring I was born in Bremerton Washington on the Navy base but left 18 months later for the east coast and a tour of Europe and Africa. I have been to California many times including driving a Scrambler Jeep across the USA to hit most of the off road trails ending up on the Rubicon trail. But not to the PNW.

Question, in an average day how many miles do you travel?

There is no typical day of driving other than we have two limits we try not to cross. (1) don't drive more than 4 hours, and (2) don't arrive after dark. Our typical let's get going route with more highway speeds will be under 200 miles a day; towing the jeep staying on more back roads that'll max us out on our hours of driving. BUT for this trip the miles per day from Central Idaho to Southern Oregon we only averaged 120 miles/day. Most days, the hours didn't go over 3 hours per day. That helped us keep the pace of moving almost every day possible. Keep in mind this is year 4 of us traveling...we started out pushing onward for 300+ miles a day because there was just so much we wanted to see. Unless we need to land somewhere on a deadline, we don't need to push that hard any longer. That's a benefit of being retired. Steve always liked someone's (author unknown) rule of 2's. Leave every 2 days, drive no more than 2 hours a day, and arrive before 2. We rarely accomplish that leisurely of a pace.
