I have 2 3' potted robusta that never seem to take off? Any advice? In a standard potting mix/pumice/large perlite mix.

Seems like a good potting mixture. Are the palms root-bound at all? My 25-year-old Robusta increased a bit in size when I transplanted it to a larger pot 6 years ago, but other than a boost in trunk width and frond size, it really didn't gain any more height since then.

@@zonehardypalms1188 What's your thoughts on watering these potted robusta? I've been trying to go easy on water, last year I thought I might have overwatered. Anyway not seeing vigorous growth. Fertilizing with osmocote. Thanks in advance.

I watered them every other night during our heat wave this summer. Backed off to about twice a week. During the colder months is the only time I’ve really had to avoid overwatering. Summer they’ve done just fine with frequent watering.

From my experience Washingtonias need to be repotted constantly to keep growing. I even had filiferas that started to die because I left them in their small first pots. Usually I plant them out, give them away and the rest just dies eventually for no apparent reason at all.

The most critical question how old are they at this time?

A lot of these started spring 2021, so about 2 and a half years old when this video was posted.
