They really took what Alice Cooper did to the extreme. A lot of Black Metal bands definitely looked at WASP’s stage show and adopted some of those ideas. Blackie was definitely a visionary.

What WASP had over many of its contemporaries was songwriting and musical craftsmanship. The multilayered vocals were a precursor to what Alice in Chains would go on to do in the following decade, and Blackie has a genuinely great and unique singing voice. A lot of bands from the hair metal era sound interchangeable, but WASP stands out from the pack

I have all those old WASP posters! By the second album,I was gone! Steve Riley ruined that band! And the "I wanna be somebody" story is bullshit,he told me he got it from Paul Stanley when KISS was being interviewed for an ABC special on the band. Paul Stanley says "I Wanna be Somebody" ! That is where he got it! I was drinking buddies of Randy and Chris and eventually was in a band with Chris Holmes in 1992/3. Now he just lives off some wierd artist millionaire that gave him new teeth and everything he could want, but he has to stay sober, except weed, that apparently is ok !! Yep,great band,at first.
