We were poor in the early 90s because we had moved as refugees and left everything behind and only gradually collected more stuff as my parents worked and saved up. So to get us started, my mom's coworkers gave her a bunch of their old stuff for our home. It was amazing mid-century stuff in a mishmash of colors, including one of those old, old televisions that came inside a wooden box/credenza-like thing and would take a few seconds for the picture to come on. Looking back, it's like the chicest thing ever! I have a frame TV now and it just could never reach that level of chic ;)

In Spain we have a wall-mounted drying rack mounted to the wall over the sink (high enough that you don't hit your head when doing dishes... imagine like the hood over an oven), and the rack has a slotted bottom to it so the drips drip into the sink. Pretty good design for space and preventing water from going everywhere.

I’m so with you on having stylish utility items in the home. I never use sponges, just microfibre cloths, but they fit in an open shelf of the same colour. Dish cloths can be washed hot, so I use a fresh one every day. If they have little holes I darn them, because this particular green is no longer produced. Much more sustainable and probably more hygienic than sponges.

I like the Chicobag Sling over the Baguu. I live in San Francisco and not only have to carry everything a mile, it’s a mile uphill. It holds an entire grocery bag and the real selling point for me is that it’s crossbody which distributes weight and bulk so much easier. It has a built in stuff sack with a drawstring so you don’t have to try to fold it up like a Baguu. I don’t leave home without it.

Hey, I'd rather hear you say "cool" a hundred times than "awesome"...ten times. I just hate it when people say awesome. It's so overused. Also, you don't use "KZbinr speak" such as, "It's such a vibe, I'm here for it, I'm so obsessed, etc etc." Hearing those phrases amuses me and I don't mind it, but no one should feel like they need to use it if they naturally don't. I ended up getting a slide out bin from IKEA which I installed in a kitchen cupboard. I really like it because I don’t have a bin taking up floor space and I also don’t have to see it. I just have a big box at the bottom of my pantry for recycling - it’s nice and big so I only have to take out the recycling when it’s full 😊

I'm not here to extend my vocabulary. Your ideas are clearly communicated and I enjoy what you have to say about design. Those people are pedantically looking to criticise.

Those DOG BEDS 😭😭 i love them. Edit: also i'm from finland and people just don't use drying racks, since everybody has a cabinet built in above the sink for that. The wall drying rack is reminiscent of that, so no wonder you found that on finnish design shop specifically!

I couldn’t be happier this video popped up on a Sunday evening (I’m in the UK) ! Also have you seen Rita Ora’s AD tour, would love a review to hear your thoughts?

You are easily my favourite content creator. Cheesy, but from watching your videos, I've really put more effort into figuring out what *my* style is... and I'm starting to really love my place as a result. It's very COOL! So, thank you.

Update!! DO NOT BUY THE ZARA TRASH CAN! It broke writhing two months of purchase & Zara’s customer service is the absolute worst I have ever dealt with. I’m on my 5th attempt to get my money back.

I say "thing" too much. Saying " cool" is way em.. cooler, then being a person who say thing, because my brain is lazy and does that thing🙈 Another excellent video .. the day to day things are so important.

Google Docs link is awesome, thank you! One suggestion, create hyperlinks in these lists. Full URLs make things more cluttered and difficult to identify. Easy to do. Ex: type "yellow bathmat" or whatever, highlight, right click, select insert link, paste URL. :)

I used thinner ikea curtains as my shower curtains and hung them up real high! Second shower rod with the liner. Works really well!

We just bought a shower curtain from Quiet Town Home and I LOVE it! I love having a clear shower curtain and I love how colorful they are. Also- this is the video I’ve been waiting for and didn’t even realize it. We just moved and we’re starting over from scratch and I just want EVERYTHING to look pretty and feel loved and thoughtfully chosen. Thanks for sharing this, it’s so nice not being the only one!

I'm exactly the same!!! I'm so fussy with every single item that enters my life and every single thing has to look "cool". I was nodding along the video and actually realised I own a lot of those items you recommended. The TV you mentioned is the Samsung The Serif and it was on top of my list when I got a Tv recently. I ended up not getting it because I couldn't justify the price to myself but I have been obsessed with it for years. I ended up getting a decent looking normal TV and mounting it on an TV easel which ended up looking super cool. For anyone out there with the same TV drama of not wanting it to be an eye sore, it's an affordable alternative, plus it makes it easy to move the TV from one room to the other, if you wish to do so.

The moment you mentioned the Scrub Daddy, I knew I found my people😉 It is THE best sponge ever and it’s a smiley face, need I say more? Every purchase I make for my home is done with a lot of thought too. I am so glad I’m not the only one who feels that way.

So glad you didn’t make fun of the Scrub Daddy. But how can you hate a water hyacinth basket? The texture, the durability, the color… they’re so nice! I keep my onions in one and bread in another. Keep your Chicago bulls trash can, and I’ll keep my water hyacinth baskets 😜

How rude of that person to comment on your vocabulary. That person has issues. Pay no attention to them. I watch your videos for the content, not an English lesson. 'Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful' William Morris. This is a quote I live by and I was chuffed to see my kitchen bin in your video, it's the little things. I find TKMaxx and H&M Home here in the UK to be a good place to find lovely things at reasonable prices. I didn't realise those wall racks were drying racks. I thought they were just stylish storage. They wouldn't work in my kitchen but they are very attractive. Don't worry about upload schedules. This is a busy time of year and you have a lot going on. We'll be here whenever you do post 😊
