My work tried to do the fluted trend on our front desk wall but instead of going the classic fluted route they DIY'd it and used pool noodles and then painted the pool noodles and the way it looks truly so awful I wish I could add a photo to demonstrate just how bad it is

Oooh, nooo…I actually love wood fluting. I like everything wood and repetitive as an architect. I think I might be pretty boring, but I genuinely like that. I think those side tables made of rock are supposed to be somewhat sculptures - the second example reminds me of Brancusi. Anyway, I was suprised by this episode and liked it.

The faucet over the stove is for canning. It's tall because your canning pot is very large and heavy. Our old farmhouse has it.

After having a water leak in the house, I have no excess plumbing. It was an easy no on the pot filler. I don't think even the most productive farmwife is canning every day. It would be easy to fill with smaller vessels.

Enjoyed the vibe and the jokes. I think the trap in most of these is decorating to make something look cool/trendy/instagram-ready (as defined by other people), rather than finding yourself, your own vibe and quality things that you enjoy living with, that optimize your values. Experimentation is part of this, so there is plenty of grace to give ourselves as we figure it out. We talk about mass-produced throw-away fashion. Maybe we should talk more about throw-away decor. :-)

I feel like this could’ve been improved by simply acknowledging some of the things you don’t personally like, not that it’s bad design. Sometimes something is just a different style. Like, your style is heavily influenced by what looks to be 70s to me, at least the color palette is. But, then anything outside of that it feels like you hate now? As if you boxed yourself into this very particular style and nothing else outside of it is good. It’s not just this video either. Your earlier videos picked on things that were objectively bad imo, but now it’s just telling people how to have your style. Idk this channel doesn’t feel like, “How to have good design” anymore it feels like, “How to furnish your home like Paige Wassel” and that’s just really disappointing to me. For example, your newest color video is just all examples of color in your particular palette as far as I can tell :/

Hi, I liked this! I would very much enjoy a tour of past room decor, a tour of and/or some kind of makeover/update at Lindy’s place, and probably other things I haven’t thought of! I loved how you each went about this differently (some more different than others 😂) so Kate has like a whole slideshow of increasingly awful versions, Paige had like a showcase of ways the trend is being (ab)used, and Lindy had some weird images and some correct opinions.
