This was exactly the video I needed! We have the same brand and the seal at the sink had disintegrated. Your step by step instructions allowed me and my 10 year old daughter to uninstall, apply plumbers putty, and figure out how to put everything back together. It was a great learning experience and we appreciate your video.

Mr. Caropresso, You are fantastic.My son and I had to replace the fiber washer and the next one. It took us about an hour total (we soaked some minerals off the light allow thingamajig with vinegar also). Works like a dream. We have a 1 horsepower Wasteking. You saved us a lot of loot and frustration. I kept insisting my son go back to the video. He won't ignore me again. Thank you.

I've replaced 3 Badger 5 Incinerators in 10 years. 2- 1/2 hp and 1- 3/4 models and they all lasted just a tad over the 2 year warranty period. When the Insinkerator 3/4" finally gave out I replaced it with a Waste King 3/4hp 3200. What a difference! Quieter, More power, Stainless Steel internals and 8-10 year warranty depending on the model number. I stuck with the Insinkerator because of the quick swap and because it was the industry standard and choose to give it a chance but the third time was a charm and I will never look back. The install on the Waste King was just as easy and took about an hour from start to finish.

Thanks I just ordered this and now I feel confident I can install it easily enough. Great video.

I'm about to put in a Waste King with an "Easy" mount. Thanks for the info I'm sure you have just saved me hours under the sink!

Thanks. It had been a few years since I installed it and had forgotten how to remove by removing the washer. Incidentally, I've had two Waste Kings and both had working motors, but their blades broke or rusted out.

Thank you for the tutorial! I'm looking to buy a disposal and this helped me see how it mounts to the sink. I'm trying to decide between the Waste King L-8000 and the Waste King 9980 because I'm not sure if the metal 3-bolt mount is better.
@birdwing988 жыл бұрын
+David J Let us know if the 3-bolt flange is thinner and sits lower in the sink, thus trapping less water. If you use the 3-bolt flange system, can the black "spoon guard" still be remove for monthly cleaning?
@davidj93248 жыл бұрын
+birdwing98 I ended up purchasing the Waste King L-8000 so I don't have any experience with the 3-bolt flange system. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I have the same one. Rubber gasket goes under the sink, not on top. In between the sink and that cardboard/fiber gasket. Little bit of plumber's putty on top will seal everything
@Watchman555558 жыл бұрын
Yes, Henrique, you are correct and the guy providing the video tutorial is wrong. The Sink Flange sits up high because of the incorrect installation of the rubber gasket and the leaking problem is the by-product.

Nice video and FYI, the 'groove' in the ez mounting ring/collar is easy to turn if you put a long screwdriver into the groove for leverage.

6:45 If you have trouble getting flange and disposal to orient properly to drain pipe, try LUBRICATING rubber flange with liquid dish soap before assembly. (Talking about the rubber flange that holds the metal ring with twisting/locking ramp on it. 7:56 Holy Crap Batman! I see an "Approval Sticker" from New York City! Does New York City regulate what happens in the bedroom too?

Just some feedback. This may be a great tutorial and filled with wonderful info, but because it is in portrait mode I can't see much and I am a visual person, hence me watching a video. I am glad others found it helpful, but there may be many like me who didn't watch the whole thing because of the limitations of the video mode.

Good video, but you might have mentioned the "knock-out" plug for the dishwasher connection. If a person has done this before, they'll know, but if they forget, things will flood washing dishes if that's not done.

How does the rubber washer hold the weight of the disposal? Since it is only thing holding bracket, I can’t figure out how it doesn’t pull whole thing off once weight of disposal added
@dcaropre3 жыл бұрын
The flange that goes from above through the sink opening is what supports the weight. The rubber washer just gives a water tight seal once the silver piece below the sink is rotated and tightened. Hope that makes sense.
@ting30310 жыл бұрын
so did you keep the putty or go back to the rubber gasket? I'm about to install one myself and would like the flange to sit as flush as possible. thanks!
@dcaropre10 жыл бұрын
I went back to the rubber gasket. The putty didn't seem to make any difference and actually made the flange sit up higher. This sits up maybe 1 mm higher than I wanted to and can cause a quarter size amount of standing water next to the flange, which is really no big deal. I think the problem is with the hole geometry of my sink. But overall still really happy with this disposal.
@ting30310 жыл бұрын
David Caropreso thanks for the quick reply, I'll stick with the rubber gasket. Funny how some of my newer sinks have that standing water around the ring; which i hate. So I try to avoid it when I can.
@dcaropre10 жыл бұрын
This sink is probably 20 years old so I don't know what the deal is. Let me know how the install goes.
@birdwing988 жыл бұрын
+David Caropreso Insinkerator Disposal uses 100% stainless-steel sink flange which may be thinner geometry than the black ABS flange with the WasteKing. Perhaps that is why water sits around the ring. Can you apply plumbers putty or caulk around top perimeter of flange to fill in the "gutter" where water is trapped in sink?
@crackerboxpalace26977 жыл бұрын
some good info but I'm not sure if he checked to see that that plumbers' putty is okay to use with plastic, not just stainless steel

If YT views were all I cared about in life, I'd have little self worth. FYI, I have two videos with my previous employer that have over 22k and 80k views so take some advice from someone with higher views and editing skill.
