Holy cow I worked on that stupid ring for hours and decided I had the wrong size cushion ring. When I watched this video I realized I too was putting it on too high. The instructions on Waste King website, thier videos, and the instructions that come with the unit all made me think I had it on the only way it could go on. Turned out there are two ways you can put it on (both with the right side up) and I was clicking it on too far. It kind of clicks on a little, thats the right spot, then you can click it on even more and that feels right but its not. Thanks David!!!

Came here to make sure the mounting was as easy as I thought it was. It was the part of the installation you omitted (only two hands, I guess) Any plumber watching this is going to give you grief over your P trap and flex drain, just FYI.

@5:33 I purchased the 1/2 HP version fo what you have and I too had the same issue you had. I mounted the rubber seal high on the plastic drain. I was attempting to seat the ridge on the rubber seal into the groove in the plastic drain. Ovbiously, like you, I found that nothing I tried worked. I even attempted to assemble without the drain to see if everything fit and it did...Yet nothing I did would allow it to fit when mounted on the plastic drain. The marathon session of cursing and yelling and slamming my tools began! But I stopped myself. I said to my wife, "someone else must have experienced this. I can't be the only one!" But unlike you, I found the instructions to be a complete waste of time. Your video here was a lifesaver! I could not believe that the solution was that easy...Once the secret, which seems to be hidden more than the rituals of the Masons, is known, the garbage disposal truly is easy to install...but there's the rub. It seems that only the anointed will be allowed to partake in the secrets of how to install this disposal...because it's clear that Waste King isn't going to let anyone in on them!

I agree with Maxwell Gold. The hardest part to assemble because of the dumb rubber ringand locking nut- but rather than mounting the camera and literally showing us, you didnt even bother to record it. Audio learning only goes so far, in this case a visual from beginning to end would have been gold.

Had the same issue with gasket until i saw this video . Terrible design that will allow the gasket go all the way in to the groove and defeat the easy fit concept

@@DigitalDavid Not anymore...*it's in!* Now I have to splice the wiring to the switch under the sink (I had to snip the plug off for this) and get a flexible coupling for the water-drain...my PVC doesn't have enough 'give' to seat the pipe.

You edited out the part that's kicking everybody's but the mention that the gasket hast hang low..... I been at the over two hours and by leaving the gasket lower than it feels to be right and bam...... and it attached.... !!!!
