WASTE NOT, WANT NOT -Accidental Art Journal

Everyone should have an ACCIDENTAL ART JOURNAL where you can put all your leftover paint and bits and pieces from your stash or creative sessions. Over time you add layers almost without thought and gradually a page evolves until one day you are ready to "finish" the page. You'll be surprised at what you "accidentally" create. Love love love all 3 pages, especially the second one. This art journal is superb. I often struggle to know what to do on a page, so I like this idea.

I hope you give this a try.....just keep adding until you know what to do to finish....and dont fret when something doesnt work...there's always gesso to cover up what you don't like. K

Hi Karen.. when your doing the shading around the circles, do you use a heat tool before going on to the white for the inside ?

Yes I typically dry between every layer or addition....If you don't dry it may gray the white effect which may be what you want but if you want pure white then definitely dry. K

I'm going to start journaling, can you tell me the size of your journal? I keep seeing A4 and A5 but that hasn't helped. Thank you.

I have 2 main art journals...one is 9 X 12 and the other 7 X 10. This Accidental art journal is about 7 X 10 as well. If you are starting I recommend the 7 X 10 size as it gives you enough room to do different techniques but doesn't have too much space to fill up. The larger size also requires larger focal images. I use the Canson Mixed Media coiled journal . K
