Waste oil horizontal forge burner

This burner is best suited to be directed into a forge. I used this style in my boiler, but it proved to be too powerful to control my water temperature safely. The oil that comes out of the end at light up wasn't a problem in that application. As soon as it was lit,the oil just burned away. Thanks for watching!

My oldest son wanted to build a small forge to make stuff from the metal. I bet this would work great.

I think that would be the only practical application for this type of burner. I'm going to test different nozzle lengths that nozzle was a piece of pipe I had lying around. I knew it was on the short side, but I didn't want to cut up a new stick of pipe! Lol,I'll revisit this burner in the future.

This really reminds me of some of those Beckett furnace burners. Might be a nice setup with a 55 gallon drum and some cast iron in front of the torch so you don't blow a hole in your barrel!

If you watch the short a few videos back, you can see the stainless steel plate in the back of my barrel. I wanted to make sure I didn't burn through.

How many watts per hour does your fan use? It sounds like a powerful shop vac. Wondering how expensive the electric bill is if its ran 24_7. Thanks great vid

It's a bounce house blower. Pulls 295 watts,not bad. My electric bill goes down in the winter because my central air isn't running. I also have grid tie inverters that make all the power for my boiler to run 24/7. I'm working on more, but money is slowing me down! Lol

what are you using for fuel? starting them up with synthetic oil is a bit harder from what i've heard.

Waste motor oil, gear oil,transmission fluid,brake fluid, coolant,whatever is in the oil tanks when I pump them. This batch was from a customer who does all his own oil changes on his cars,trucks, and tractors,so I'm not too sure what was in it. The burner I use in my boiler burns anything. I know synthetic has a higher flash point, around 400-450 Fahrenheit,but these burners run much hotter than that. Light up is a bit tricky with these in general. I'm building a bare bones,anyone can make burner right now and will post the video soon. Thanks!
