There is an unconscious bias towards Ange because he is Australian and hasn't come through as a coach in the conventional way. Being condescending about his path to Spurs is extremely disrespectful. In Arteta's second full season, Arsenal lost their opening 3 games and were bottom of the League yet no one said he cannot do it at this level. Arsenal finished 5th, 8th and 8th before challenging yet the board stuck with him. Ange finished 5th in his first season. Spurs fans have to relax a bit. Of course Ange will say he wants to challenge for trophies because he is trying to change the mentality of the club. Today the loss was on the players. Ange set them up in that first half to create chances to be 4-0 up at half time. They didn't do that and they got punished. That is not the managers fault. The performance for the first 56 mins especially and then after the injury was excellent and finishing and final ball can be worked on. Defensively they looked much more solid and the goal was poor to conceded but they only conceded 3 shots on target the whole game so it's not like they were open. Back Ange because he will bring success to the club. A draw on the opening day away at Leicester is far from ideal but it is GW1 and this result will become insignificant. When you create that many chances, it will even out across the season.

The biggest issue in this team is our lack of ability to beat players 1v1 down the wings. This is why i felt we needed 2 quality wingers over a 1 quality striker. If we had a player on each side of the pitch to stretch the back line, then there is more space centrally. Neither winger could beat their man today so the box was extra compact. We have Dom now so I will get behind him, but Odobert is going to be massively important to our success this season.

xG was 1 v 1.2 so notwithstanding the dominance we didn't actually create real chances. The wingers do not deliver enough for Ange's system to work - Johnson,Werner and a fading Son are inadequate.Ange has Vicario to thank for the save from Vardy otherwise the pressure would already be starting to mount.

Biss I doubt will be back. Ange said club sanctions but listening to what Ange said directly after that, he is not convinced that will be enough, he wants to see attitude and commitment to change before he will be considered for selection. It's up to the player now, once swallowed doesn't make a Summer, lots of personal growth required to prove himself to his teammates and coaches, until that is evident to all around there will be no trust.

I think there is a wider point to be considered here. Look I'm frustrated as the next person. We should of been out of sight but I think we will see a difference this season. All the deadwood that we had accumulated who let's face it did not have the winning mentality have mostly gone now. This is why Ange is bringing lots of young players so he can instill that mindset easier and I think that will pay dividends by the end of the season. To be honest we haven’t not had a top 4 club front line in a while Ange stated last yr that the attack was failing to convert chances don’t think he was backed so far . Sonny looks tired . I think Solanke might fit system but he should have buried his chances . I think we overpaid fir Johnson at 24 he should be taking his chances he had a golden chance . Mid fielders and defenders hit prime later but at 24 if u missing chances doubt it will change. He missed a lot last year no composure Subs were to late as well

The defence is an issue but not the main one. We got 15 shots of and could only score one goal, we should've been 4-0 up by half time and the second half should've just been a walkabout which didn't matter but our attackers are so scared to take a shot unless its within 2 inches of the goal mouth. So frustrating when you can see they have opportunities to shoot and just keep trying to look for a perfect pass instead.

Every clip of spurs training is a striker finishing a ball put across from as winger. Heads up Ange,in a game there are defenders in the way, we blindly just put the ball into that area and it is cleared everytime. No quality on the wings !!

With that in mind Romero's positioning was correct as he was centre of goal next to VDV tight to the man in his zone Bobby Reid. It was a far post header and the back stick is always the responsibility of the fullback.

Turned out more or less as I expected it would - a scoring draw. Theres always goals in Leicester spurs games and vardy (inevitably) scores against us. Fact that we had no one on the bench who was good enough to come on and change the game tells you all you need to know about how mediocre our business in the transfer market this summer was. Top 6 - at best - for spurs this season (certainly no better than that). And I was saying this last week before anyone says I'm 'over reacting' after one game. This is my honest sober assessment of where we are right know.
