Hi Del, interesting to see you using rivnuts for mounting the plate mount. When i`ve used used rivnuts before (thread locking ones), i`ve had times when the thread locks, and spins the steel rivnut in the aluminium capping (due to the nut being stronger than the ally), so used to put a small squirt of adhesive (Araldite or similar) in the hole before squeezing up. If you put the adhesive on the rivnut, the edge of the hole would push it out all over the rivet gun, whereas if you squeeze it in the hole, the rivnut pushes it inside, allowing it to self fillet around the nut body inside the joint.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 4 жыл бұрын
Never had that one buddy, unless I've failed to collapse the nut enough, they shouldn't need any form of adhesive, certainly by design, if you leave the burr on the inside of the hole (which you have no choice to do with tubing), and make sure you compress it enough, it shouldn't spin... but if the glue works, then it's hardly the wrong thing to do, good thinking bruv!

Just going to add to the many comments of "side mount plates are legal"... absolutely legal in the UK. The issues people have with them are usually that the plate itself is too small, not that it's located to the side. :-/

Hey Del, maybe consider using some Loctite for your license plate holder. Four cylinder bikes are not AS notorious for vibration as something like a single cylinder Supermoto, but I bet that license plate can shake around quite a bit as well.

It's widely understood that you don't wear gloves when operating machines, easiest way to get yer hand dragged into the wheel when the glove gets caught... and with oil, waste oils are pretty poisonous, if i have any recent nicks or cuts, i glove up to prevent infection.!
