The elephant comes from Africa. As there is an attack from Yemen area in the south lead by Abraha governor of western Yemen province to king of Axm an African ancient powerful kingdom located in modern day Ethiopia from Ethiopia to modern day Somalia. Abraha was trying t control the very powerful and rich Arabian trade route with Eastern Roman Byzantium Empire in Levant by taking Mecca by force. That is how the elephant came to the battlefield in Arabia. They are of course powerful but they become a very weak point due to how much water and grass food they needed. This happened and concluded few days before prophet Mohammad date of birth. Middle-East,Arab and Muslim and Islam as a cultural and as of values are not that much different from Japan and China and Korea interms of the core especially if you go to the cultural standards in Japan and China before WW2 and European western influence. There is alot in common and a mutual respect. Also, Arabs love anime. Since anime begin from 50s arab TVs have anime for kids. My grandfather and father know many ancient animes. Anime is super popular in Arab countries but one thing to note is the Arabic used in this movie, as well as most Arab dubs, is considered very formal and not suited to casual speech. Its called Fus-ha Arabic which basically means Eloquent Arabic (or Classical Arabic) and true to its meaning its reserved for poems, verses from the Quran or weather forecasts when its vital for the message to be understood as Arabic has dozens of dialects that are near unintelligible to each other. Its sort of like Kansai dialects vs Tokyo dialect but add multiple foreign loan words and it would be impossible to use the dialects as a written language. Its why dubs use Fus-ha since everybody understands it to a degree but its just super bland at least for the native speakers.

You see it that way, but in other Arab countries fus-ha is used in all formal settings, including school, so people have it very well mastered. I used to live in an Arab country and I left when I was 9 years old but I still understand fus-ha Arabic.

It is not "super bland" it can be very emotional, and any Arab person can understand any Arabic dialect after hearing it a few times, it is not that big of a deal unless the dialect is altered heavily by other languages, for example, the Moroccan dialect

Bland? No it is not, i'm indonesian and i'm surprised that arab voice acting in this anime was very good, it has similiar vibes with japanese voice acting. Sounds natural to me, as natural as japanese, it doesn't like any other country's voice acting even my country. Arab voice acting level in this anime was high. Sorry for my bad english

Arabs watched anime since late 90's Anime is very popular in arab world Cuz it's respectful and kids friendly I mean it use to be lol Like hunterxhunter and conan Not like western cartoons Sometimes it disrespect religions .. So anime become way popular here I ve benn watching anime since 2004 2005 I was about 5 years old And it really helped me to build a very kind character Not just I'm sure all 2000 generation arabs does

Theres a lot of animes that have been extremely popular from my parents generation so like the 70's & 80's. Except when i started watching anime my parents were like "what r u watching???" They had no idea all the shows they watched as kids were arabic dubs of japanese anime. Grendizer is a big one, my dad and mom & uncles were all obsessssed with it as kids apparently & would wait for it to come on tv every week. Or captain majid is famous for that backflip kick (which i only recently found out is actually the japanese anime captain tsubasa!!!!). Spacetoon is an arabic kids channel thats all anime but was the only kids channel that was available to watch wen i was younger visiting my grandparents. So theres a whole generation of arabs who grew up watching anime who probably still dont realize they were watching anime.

Elephants are NOT popular in Saudi Arabia, that's why Abraha, the villain, used them as a tactic to grow fear in the hearts of the natives. After all, he isn't of the land and is trying to destroy their religious symbol in order to turn it to a market and make of them his slaves, and he did use a lot of other psychological warfare like drums, making Elephants stomp their legs and time...I did watch the anime and it was brilliant. One criticism I have is that they try to shove stories of other prophets which while it's nice it ruins the flow of the story somewhat but that's just a personal gripe. But the fighting was great, the characters ranged from endearing lovable and clumsy to badass but isn't good with crowds, often making situations somewhat awkward...even side characters that just provided commentary were endearing, and the fights were way too badass. I've watched the Japanese version and can't wait to watch the Arabic too! Good thing I'm multilingual am I right?
