I used to listen to Bob w/ Dennis Rainey on Family Life Today daily from about 1990 to 2001 or 2002. I knew what he looked like THEN ... But he's a little older now!! Well yeah, so am I, LoL!! He didn't have a beard then, nor very much gray hair! Ummm, yeah, neither did I, hahaha!!! 😝

I am a little disappointed in that Alistar states that the New and Old Testaments can be unhinged from each other; that borders on a fallacy and is not true. The Holy Bible is one book; not two separate books. The the words of God; but the WORD of God! Be careful by brother Begg.

Father, I pray that You continue to lead both Alistair and Bob into a deeper walk with You. Continue to enlighten them both in Your Holy Word as they daily teach and encourage Your Church. This I ask in the Name of Jesus our Savior and King, Amen.

I think it's so overwhelming with all the information about people all over the world that need help it's easy to get overwhelmed about who specifically needs our prayers. People all over the world persecuted. Wars. Neighbors in our towns who are unsaved. Somehow we have to filter through all this and search out who God wants us to specifically reach out in prayer for. Prayers for myself often lead to prayers for others. So God uses our own interests to guide us to also extend our prayers. Thank you Jesus for that!

Thank you for sharing truth, being so honest about your faith. When I begin my prayer time ( not counting the many times during the day that I call out to God!) I am usually overwhelmed, there are so many that I feel a burden for, our nation, teachers, churches, so many reasons to call on God because I know that it is only God who can change things. I begin and could go on for hours or days, I try to just do the urgent ones…..I think you understand where I’m coming from here, but this interview has given me freedom, trusting God that He knows what I’m asking before I even ask Him. So now I can be free when I pray and just ask Him to be Him, He knows these things I will just pray what Ge puts on my heart and not leave my prayer feeling guilty b/c I didn’t pray for someone etc!! Thank you. And one of my fave books is “the book of Martyr’s, great men and women’s stories!!!

You are so right, Sir Alistair. I am sad to say that whenever I can't fall asleep, I always start praying and I fall right asleep. every. single. time. I am also now aware of how hard I am attacked after I have prayed for peoples souls. At work I went from good guy to hated after praying for the souls of my coworkers relentlessly. The devil doesn't want to give those people up, I know from this warfare. This is a real war. We are battle-scarred but we must work for the Kingdom of God. Praying is indeed the first line of battle in this warfare. Alistair Begg is a modern day Charles Spurgeon, and I say that carefully. God bless Truth for Life.

I'm so glad to hear someone else voice the things I find cringeworthy about corporate prayer!! I feel the same way as he does about our "shopping list" approach to prayer, and that we seem to pray primarily for people who are sick. I, also, have mentioned to people the fact that God's Word tells us that He promised to never leave us nor forsake us, so it's a bit of a slap in the face to ask Him to "be with" one of His own. (Don't we believe His own word?) We become so used to using cliches that I sometimes wonder if we are even thinking about what we are saying. How can that be called prayer?

Did you know that having great prayers answered is hard for us? We want the credit. I believe that is what stands in the way of our prayers. We need to learn to give God all of the glory. He can share His glory with us, but that is His will, not ours.

I have gleaned so much from your preaching, and it's refreshing to hear you're a real person who has ups and downs, ebbs and flows of spiritual devotions. This is such a good interview. Thank you both for it! I do so much believe in the power of prayer. God instituted it and He gives us the great privilege to converse with Him.
