its the mag, the extended mags are known for feeding issues. use a standard mag and your fine. i have a .45 Hi- Point and can run 4+ 9rnd mags straight with no jams if im not using steel casings. (plus there is the break in rounds your supposed to do and i havent put more then 300 through mine.) plus i think the yeet cannon is just bad compared to other Hi -Points. i shot my Hi-Point better then i shot my rock Island 1911 .45

I have that exact high point. When my grandfather died we went through his guns and I was horrified to find among his S&W's, Glocks, and Springfield's-this hideous 9mm highpoint. I took it strictly for sentimental value as neither my dad or brother wanted it. To date, the gun has never jammed or had any other kind of issue for that matter. Even factory Hi-Point mags are known for being pretty iffy. There's tons of discussions and videos about how to fix a bad one by modifying the lips or compressing the springs, etc. It seems to be their weak point, which is pretty common for autoloaders, really. But you get/make a good mag, the guns seem to be as reliable as a gun gets.

@@alexanderellis286 Any new gun can fail, and hurling something into the air is about the least-scientific thing you can do to torture-test something, because it all depends on how it lands and what it lands on. Even Matt says in a later vidio that this wasn't a good test. Not to mention that he didn't disassemble it to see what failed, and Hi-Point's warranty is so good they probably would have fixed it for free, anyway. But I know that Hi-Point haters love to hate them. It just annoys me that they hate them for the wrong reasons.

@@theminingassassin16 Extended magazines often cause issues as many pistols are not typically designed to use them. Also most extended mags for Hi Point are made by Pro Mag which are cheap and low quality. Feeding issues are often magazine related and he didn't bother to try the standard factory magazine to see if that solved the issue and while I don't care for Hi Point guns there are tons of videos showing how they are tough and reliable. Basically he made no effort to provide a fair comparison (in my opinion) and he didn't even know why the gun was built with a heavy slide and just assumed it was because they used cheap steel. I don't own and never will buy a Hi Point but there is no reason to purposefully shit on a gun many people who can't afford better rely on for home defense.

@@SaneNoMore I see. In Matt's defense, in his first video involving a Hi-Point (here's a link, if you haven't seen it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/raG9lYidd9-bbbs ), he does show how fairly tough and reliable the gun is, and even seems impressed with it. So I think his hatred towards Hi-Points comes from the fact that he just doesn't like guns that he finds uncomfortable (as in, they don't feel good in the hand, feel clunky, don't run smoothly, or all of the above). I'm not saying that his judgement is fair, but I can see why he doesn't like Hi-Points. Granted, I've never owned a gun in my life, so I wouldn't really know a good gun from a crap gun. I'm just going off of what I'm observing.

I've owned a total of four Hi-Points-two 9mms and two .45s. Throughout my experience with them, I encountered no issues as long as I stuck to using the magazines that originally came with the guns. I carried them in my cars and trucks, even dropped them a few times, and never faced any problems. I searched for bigger magazines, but all the information I found strongly advised against using anything other than the stock magazines. I'm surprised you guys weren't aware of that. Eventually, I did decide to sell them and upgrade to better firearms. However, for someone starting out, Hi-Points can be a reliable choice.

I have a hi point in 40, 45, and 9. After running around 150 rds they don’t jam at all and is just as accurate as any other gun. I run brass and steel with no problems. Just break the gun in with the factory mags with over 100 rds. My brother tried everything to destroy his hi point 9 and it just kept shooting no matter what he did to it. I have had my hi points for a lot of years now and they work just fine right along with all of my other firearms.

For anyone interested, the real reason Hi Points have such large obnoxious slides is because they use a true blow back action. The slide has to be heavy as hell to make sure the breech stays closed long enough for the barrel to depressurize to a safe level. Most modern handguns utilize some form of locking breech action to achieve this. The Glock for instance uses a tilt lock designed by gun god himself, John Moses Browning. As far as I know, Hi Point is the only modern pistol to use a straight blow back action while chambered in 9mm and above. Blow back actions are typically extremely reliable and common in PCCs. That being said, they have a stiffer recoil impulse than most other actions due to the large amount of mass moving straight backwards.

Try using a non-gigantic mag. I have the Yeet Cannon and it did the same thing the first mag. I just "helped" it back into battery with the heel of my hand and it ran fine after that. One Mag did separate at the back, the stamped crimp came apart and the metal separated. The empty casings of the rounds that wouldn't go into battery had hellacious scratches on the sides like the top of the mag was grabbing it and digging in, keeping it from leaving the mag.

I’ve noticed some of the other commenters have also said this, but you’ve already pointed out that the High Point is a cheaper version of the standard semi automatic. You know how semi automatics feed their ammunition into the chamber: with that in mind, why would you put a 16 round extended magazine into something that’s designed to use seven or eight? Of course, it’s going to jam: there’s too much pressure pushing straight up into the chamber. Additionally, if you are a Glock fan, you should know better than to over-oil your gun.

The feeding issues were likely due to the shitty mag spring. I would wager that it works relatively fine with a standard sized magazine.

I was thinking this the whole time. I’m not a high point fan or anything haha but he needs to try a standard mag.

The feeding issues were 100% because the crappy aftermarket extended mag. Even Matt's previous videos on the hi-points shows them being reliable with the standard factory mags.

It's the mag.. if I remember correctly u need to take like a pair needle nose pliers and on top of the mag, the Lil feed lips or whatever they r called and on the back side of the lips u spread em apart ever so slightly just to open that space up just a lil bit.. also if u wanna polish the feet ramp it will actually Belpre em cycle pretty darn good.. mine did yrs ago
