Watch before you buy the Ikon Motorsports Challenger Rear Diffuser!

I was so excited to see the Ikon Motorsports Challenger rear Diffuser finally available! I ordered it right away and was pretty disappointed when it arrived. It's not ALL bad, but there are a few things you need to consider before buying.
This is an unpainted piece, while it's black like your trim and some wouldn't mind the imperfections in the finish, I feel it's meant to be prepped and Painted. I'm also not willing to delete my backup sensors.
I'll go over my issues with the product and why I'm sending it back in hopes they they address some of the issues that make it not worthy for the WorkPlayDrive Challenger.

I would have been highly disappointed too. Especially b/c they didn't incorporate the backup sensors. If I spent the $ & bought something NEW like that, I would expect it to be well-finished, undamaged, totally compatible & a direct fit replacement. Hats off to you for a well detailed, informative vid on this product. Glad to hear that they gave you no hassle about returning/replacing their product. Dang, you read my mind, these guys are a 30 minute drive from me and I decided yesterday, I was going to go by there tomorrow to pick one up. I was aware of the rear sensors and I have my ideas on this which I will share at a later time. BUT, I wasn't aware of the bad finish, which would of been a deal breaker for me as well.

I went with the ZL1 rear diffuser for my Challenger and it looks freaking awesome I love it.. and it has a belly pan so it actually does work as a diffuser should!.. no drilling install, fit like a glove!

Yup, I'm with you. Not going on my car. It NEEDS to look factory, back up sensors and all. Also texture and color are critical too. Again, awesome video and thanks for the heads up. I have also been looking for a replacement rear fin with ackup camera but again, not seeing the factory look with different style I would like.

Got mine in and the sensors mounted . Off to paint in 2 days . I used a soldering iron to release the plastic welds holding the sensor brackets on the oem valence . Then measured and marked my holes for the sensors . Then I used epoxy to Mount them to the new valence with the sensors in the mounts to assure 100% proper fitment . For 100 bucks I can’t complain .

392Desi out the door 230 after paint is what it cost me . I did poke each hole but all together that took 10 min tops to have all 4 mounts off it’s a plastic weld not really that strong of a hold in the first place . Same part from them for the charger is 229.99 .

Just went by there, they pulled 2 units from the back. There was an issue with the first one. Lots or dirt, sanding, tab looked like it was going to break off. 2nd unit less dirt (this has to be on China’s side) and tab that looked like that was going to break off looks just a little bit better but there obviously is something wrong with the mold. Finish ok if your going to paint it, but I saw wavyness on the parts that go on the side. Also since I have another rear lower oem at home (don’t ask) I noticed that the plastic on the oem is flexible vs this the plastic is much more rigid and less flexible. I will wait until V2 comes out (me being hopeful)

Wow, I ALMOST bought this. I still might, since I have my own Printrbot to make holders for the sensors. I think the hardest hurdle would be /where/ to drill and how to get the right angle to point them. Obviously engineers designed them to point at the perfect angles to sense things while backing up and underwent rigorous testing cycles/sprints to get them just right. At least I want to hope so. I'd hate for Ikon to just drill holes and put in holsters for the sensors and people back into things! :S

I was unable to find the holders online. I was considering 3D scan and print the original holders but the one o received was in bad shape it wasn’t worth it. I’m pretty sure with the sensors they are not laser focused so you have some room for placement. I may order one in the future when I have time to dig in and make it work.

As far as the holes my method would be to take painters tape going vertically from painted bumper to factory diffuser over each sensor . Mark it then flip the tape up out of the way . Next test fit the new one while doing so fold the tape back down showing you exactly where it needs to go mark it remove diffuser and drill holes

Just be careful. A lot of people messaged me that the clips on the IKON snap off when you try 2 remove and 2 people had them crack in half 😬

Yep it would be a great piece once prepped, painted and modified to fit the Backup sensors, but it's not something I want to do. Matching the texture and color of the chin spoiler and rocker trim is going to be too difficult.

The kit comes with a few screws if I remember correctly. But imo it’s not worth purchasing IMO.

I just ordered some srt8 side skirts for the 2011-14 charger you can do the prep work yourself but I ask them if a body shop was recommend they said highly recommended as it doesn't come with instructions. So I'm going to give this a try myself

Not a part of much interest to me, but I agree - not a design that appears ready for sale for many reasons.Might want to check ZL1 Add-ons - they just came out with one for Challenger, but have not heard any reviews on it - just their install video. But theirs seems to have more going on underneath in the way of reducing drag by keeping the air flowing along, not just for bling.

Agreed - me too. Not saying I would never consider it, but just not one of those items that makes me reach for the wallet immediately. I do use several other ZL1 products on my Hellcat, and they all have been top quality. I believe the owner is a current or former technical person in the Aerospace industry, so he kind of comes up with cool designs.

I appreciate the video, but every buyer of this Ikon Motorsports diffuser need to know that if you try to remove it, it will break into pieces. There is no way to remove this without destroying the diffuser. The factory part is very flexible, the Ikon brand is not flexible in the slightest bit.

absolutely, but this was sold under the assumption it was a quick swap. Since it was damaged and didn't look too good I opted to return it.

I guess they have definitely updated that in info in the page now says it will need modifications for the sensors . I do plan to paint it satin black once I receive it and mock up the sensors . I’ll share with you in the end what it cost to finish it to a visually and physically usable rear valence guessing like 200 bucks total since the part is only 100bucks free shipping .

Supercharger is coming sometime in the next 18 months, I just blew half my Supercharger money on my suspension setup. I have it nailed down to Kenne Bell, Whipple, Magnuson in that order. I'm also doing headers, forged drop ins and of course a mild pump gas tune since this is a daily driver.

I bought a diffuser from ikon for my camaro and it has issues as well. The center side tabs are too wide to allow it to sit flush, and there is a big gap on each side as there is nothing to hold the diffuser flush with the bumper for the two side tabs. My car has been out of commission for 5 days now trying to resolve this. I'm taking it to a body shop tomorrow in hopes they can modify it to fit properly. Such a shame because it looks so cool, just terrible fitment. I emailed ikon and still awaiting their response. I bought it new from ebay store so idk if they will refund it for me, only time will tell.

You didn't know that it was unpainted? Supposed to be painted after purchase. E93 335i front bumper was flawless. Had it painted at local shop. Needs adjustment since it is aftermarket and each car has unique changes to body over time wera and tear.

I was looking into getting the ikon motorsports hellcat challenger front fascia conversion but couldn’t find any reviews on it I know speedlogix sells a kit also but ikon motorsports kit is a lot cheaper their price is at $779 and speedlogix is at $1385 so if anyone can explain why the ikon one is much cheaper and what company you would choose that’d be great

I would avoid purchasing from Speedlogix, many of my subs are waiting on parts from them with no responses. Ikon is hit and miss, some got lucky and received a rear diffuser that was suitable to mount while most received unfinished product. If you have the ability to return like I did I would go for it and try your luck, but don't expect it to be perfect, from what I am seeing is their parts are meant to be finished and painted before use.

Even if that thing was perfect I still wouldn’t put it on my Challenger that’s not a defuser that’s just a piece of plastic. In order to gain results from this mod you need a defuser made from material that won’t give under pressure from the undercarriage of the vehicle (sheet metal) j/s

Yes, it was a nice piece, it's just not a direct install like I was lead to believe. If I had known in advance it was going to require some modifications to get the backup sensors working and sanding, prep and paint I would not have purchased it.

Originally I thought the same but I had a few friends that purchased it at the same time. One of them got three bad ones another one cracked on install. These are unfinished pieces meant to be prepped painted before install. They are also a single use product if you try to remove them they will crack in most cases.

Also, it appears that it's not even functional. The ZL1 defuser, which I'll be ordering soon, actually sends the airflow underneath the "scoop" that the rear bumper has from the factory. This diffuser is just for looks. Kind of reminds me of stick on fender vents or the non-functional hood vents on a RAM Sport hood...lol.

So true, non functional vents and aero looks good is OK as long as it's done well and alternately ugly aero is OK as long as it performs. The Icon kind of failed all around ;/ an unfinished brittle visual mod, it still acted as a parachute capturing are behind it, rather than channeling it through the fins.

Wrong that sensor piece is glued in so I used a heat gun and it came right off

Their last batch of Charger diffusers are trash. Mine came with tabs broken off, and the remaining tabs are too wide to fit in the bumper. Had to Dremel them down to fit. Pulling it on and off the plastic tore itself. Waste of money.
