I love all your Mount Agung climb videos. I watched some of them before climbing from Besakih temple to the peak. I wanted to ask where the starting point for the East Peak trail is. I want to climb Mount Agung again but this time to the East peak.

Hey. Thank for watching) East Peak trail starts from Kedampal, Datah, but actually trail goes up to certain point where there is a little temple at 2200 meters altitude. After that the only dense bush. Also hike starts from 600 meters altitude and it’s very steep and long, about 9 hours one way. Better to get guide for that, it’s easy to get lost there. Last time I met guys who goes that trail regular, can get their contact if you want.

Hey. Any shoes is ok as long they are comfortable and not too tight. Especially it’s important when you come down. Descent is very steep and slippery so it’s a lot of preasure on your toes.

Hi, I’m planning to climb sometime in July this year, may I ask if the routes up to the mountain have been affected much by the eruption a few years back? PS. I did a guided climb in 2017, just before the eruption and would like to climb it again. Thanks in advance for the reply!

Hi, no, it’s not. It was so called cold eruption and in the beginning slopes faced to Candidasa and Tulamben was covered with tick, slippery layer of ash. Now it’s all washed of and looks the same as I remember it from 2017.

The hardest actually is East trail, it's very steep, starts from 500 meters above the sea level and also no one is going it so trail is invisible. Besakih trail is long but easy. @@MartinSlisans i have a very strong will and extremely fit and have done hundreds of difficult hikes just not sure about scaling cliffs ect im happy to scramble ect but if im climbing up a vertical wall and facing death its a no from me hahahha

Is it possible to do the climp without a guide? How does registration work? Also would like to do it during the day not Start in the middle of the night. Thanks in advance!

It’s recommended to have a guide. But I suggest you better have one because you can get lost there easily especially in the last kilometer since there’s no trail just some markings which you have to understand first. I’ve been there so many times and still need to be careful to not miss them. Sunrise hike is more popular but you can do it any time. Registration is on the site.

The easiest and shortest one is from Pura Pasar Agung Selat. Takes about 4 hours to get to the top.
