Wrong, Mach 1.1 is approximately 767 mph. Earth rotate at 1037 mph. So no it’s not flying faster than the earth rotates . Did I miss something?

Depending on your latitude the rotaton speed changes of course. Still, if they launched from Mojave in California again, which is at lat 35° the rotation speed is still 850 mph. So probably they're wrong

what do they mean by "independently developed civilian supersonic aircraft" I thought Concord was independently developed (from the military and government)
@manassehitegi11 сағат бұрын
The concord was developed by two nations, Britain and France therefore not by an individual commercial entity.

Though Concorde was designed by private companies, it was *heavily* financed and directed by the British and French governments.

What chase plane is that? I’ve never seen that before.

I read one was a Phantom, and the other a T38 trainer.

Congrats 🎉 any comments on how strong the boom was?

If they flew it over where the usual supersonic flight tests are (Black Mountain supersonic corridor over Black Mountain Wilderness Area), we didn't even hear anything.

Ignorant commentary. 1. Nowhere near the speed of rotation of the earth. 2. Higher angle of attack than the chase aircraft. Well, he was flying a no flap approach while they were configured at what appears full flaps. If the chase aircraft went full flaps, they’d be at a high AOA too. 3. Landing on the numbers? No. He touched down just short of the fixed distance markers(captains bars) which are 1000’ down from the runway threshold. I’d estimate he touched down about 800’ down the rwy, but not on the numbers.
@clapanse5 сағат бұрын
1) he was flying faster than the Earth's rotation at that latitude. If he were to fly due west, he'd outpace the sun's apparent motion. 2) flaps are much less of a thing on a highly swept delta like this, and high AoA is actually very typical for a highly swept planform. That's why Concorde had a droopy nose - it came in at a very high AoA thanks to the highly swept delta wing, and had to drop the nose to see the runway. 3) you're right, but that's actually better. You're not supposed to land on the numbers unless you have some very good reason to need every inch of runway.

@@David_in_Thailand That’s what we rivet counters did back in flight test. You should be grateful the next time you go to Suvarnabhumi for a ride. Precision maters unless you want us to just wing it.
Not as impressive as the SR-71 Habu take off from Kadena AFB.

🤣historic 🤣🤣🤣China already successfully tested historic supersonic aircraft, and fastest engine 🤣🤣🤣 so Americans didn’t know saw news or just pretending 🤣🤣🤣 and how is this good looking 🤣🤣🤣
@marsrocket8 сағат бұрын
China is a government, not an independent business. The US military has plenty of planes faster than the Chinese models.
@clapanse5 сағат бұрын
1) No engine China has ever tested, in any category, is faster than the fastest US built engine in that same category. 2) This is historic because it's the first *entirely privately developed and independently funded* supersonic airplane. All of China's supersonic aircraft used government funding and direction. 3) Yeah, this looks good. That's entirely personal opinion of course, but this is a nice looking plane. 4) learn to correctly read and interpret news yourself before making fun of others
