Tariffs are a good thing for the US. As an example, say President Trump puts a 100% tariff on German made cars. Now both Mercedes and BMW will find that they are being priced out of the US market because a $100K car today will be $200K and nobody or at least less buyers can afford that. To counter tariffs smart companies will build factories in the US to assemble their cars here which will evade the tariffs. Those new factories will also create jobs in the US which will help reduce unemployment. Its a win - win for the country.

Two reasons for tariffs. Protect your industry, Raise money. Tariffs used wrong if they are solely to raise money. If you do not produce a product that your people want, (his example) Statists (democrat party) will impose tariffs just to raise money ( or punish buyers and sellers due to a side agenda, tobacco, etc.) They can't help themselves. The objective is to increase both our exports and imports so there is MORE trade and therefore increasing economic benefits.

Have friends who run small art businesses where they order raw goods from overseas that they then handmade into art or fashion objects in the US to run as small businesses. They are terrified that their costs of materials will skyrocket once Trump is in office and setting tariff limits. Personally hope some of these tariffs will motivate US manufacturing in order to grow US businesses as lower cost items compared to the import goods. But as this finance export states, tariff's won't likely apply to products that the US doesn't make and doesn't intend to manufacture.

if theres one thing that trump excels more than 90% of american presidents is foreign policy. When you read his book you'll see exactly what and why he does these things and they work 100% of the time.

The question you have to ask is, why did everyone before Trump think it was ok for these other countries to have such tariffs on us without any pushback?

Tariffs hurt people on both sides of borders. But if another nation puts a tariff on your goods, a tit-for-tat strategy might be a good way to reduce those tariffs.

This trade concept has it's genesis from the Tom Clancy novel "Executive Orders " I believe. In the book President Ryan enacts tariffs against Japan that mirror theirs on our products. It's called common sense and looking out for your nation's interests.

He’s wrong about Ford. Ford is still massively popular in Europe. Gm though he’s dead on.

That host either lied or didn't do his research. Trump flat out said the tarriffs would just be on what the US produces, not across the board.

Double screwing better than single screwing. :) got it. Hopefully these practical approaches to gov't bring the country together.
Trump's victory made him HATE AMERICA.
