fantastic... makes you feel a little more positive when you finally hear someone talking sense

Brilliantly put! Only problem is you are speaking loud and clear to a deaf audience! The ministers are more interested in where the next glass of sherry and scone is coming from!

These MPs need to realise that energy independence is a vote winner (especially when this coming winter will see sky rocketing prices). There's no time to lose to implement these changes, our temperate climate, food supply, peoples lives depend on it.

You lost me when you laid so heavily into nuclear. That will be a thumbs-down.
@deputyVH2 жыл бұрын
He said it was dirty which the spent fuel rods are. However I think it will still be part of an energy solution. The French have lowered their carbon footprint thanks to nuclear.
@robertfallon39812 жыл бұрын
When you consider the *monumental* amount of embodied energy required to build a nuclear power station, you cannot conclude that it's clean or sutainable (not even mentioning the radioactive waste problem). Unfortunately, it also appears SMRs aren't the claimed panacea, particularly considering the considerably increased low-grade waste.

@@robertfallon3981 Thanks. I'd never heard of small modular reactors. I just looked them up. They seem to be niche.

@@richardswaby6339 SMR's seem like a good option for clean energy to me.... "With the Rolls-Royce SMR technology, we have developed a clean energy solution which can deliver cost competitive and scalable net zero power for multiple applications - from grid and industrial electricity production to hydrogen and synthetic fuel manufacturing." "A single Rolls-Royce SMR power station will occupy the footprint of two football pitches and power approximately one million homes. It can support both on-grid electricity and a range of off-grid clean energy solutions, enabling the decarbonisation of industrial processes and the production of clean fuels, such as sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and green hydrogen, to support the energy transition in the wider heat and transportation sectors."
