It matters a lot. But it should never negate any consequences that a person must pay in return for their actions. Each of us deal with traumas that has the ability to effect our relationships with others. When we are triggered, our behavior becomes irrational, but we are unaware of the irrationality (we believe wholeheartedly that we're right). Mix in drugs and alcohol, there's no telling what one may accomplish. But we should still be held responsible for our actions bc we're adults and we cannot go through life continuing to think our horrible actions are justified.

Sick and tired of hearing how a person was abused as a child so they go out and murder murder murder and say oh I was abused or rejected or was poor as a child so feel sorry for me and my heinous murders. Kids in 3rd world countries suffer far much more eating and living in dump sites and they don't go out and murder people.
@AntiEmpire
@AntiEmpire 2 жыл бұрын
There is a serious psychological aspect to this, and if you aren't willing to educate yourself about it, then you will continue to be credulous and write people off at face value. And many (not all) of children in third world countries grow up to be violent or to steal or to kill just to survive, and many (not all) poor kids in this country do the same. You don't seem to know much about poverty or how poverty directly impacts human psychology.

@@angeladodds Amen! Psychological trauma or not. That is no excuse to be a cold blooded murderer. Period. These people are not to be pittied they are to be taken at their word and realize that they will never be rehabilitated they are evil incarnate. Also to the person who said you don't know poverty. You are right most of us don't know poverty. I did have a father however who went to sleep many nights hungry because his father walked out on them and his mother and seven other children were in poverty. Hungry, sick and impoverished they considered themselves lucky if they got used shoes to wear to school. Yet somehow he grew up to be a fine hardworking man who supported his family with two jobs and determination to never be like his father. Sorry but I don't pity murderers no matter how bad their childhood was.

This Mother has many excuses for poor parenting as I have 2 boy's and was in and out of hospitals for multiple major surgeries. You have to know who there friends are and have good communication with you're kids.Parenting isn't always easy but you chose to bring them into this world and you need to guide them in the right direction & talk to them when you see there's a problem maybe with a new friend. Due process is design to remove much of the emotion from the decision process. The US has consistently estimated a 5% wrongly conviction rate for years. Maybe we should follow your way of Justice and convict on how a person feels that he or she is guilty and save some Tax dollars. If that means the wrongly conviction rate goes up so be it. Unless of coarse one of those wrongly convicted is you. Estimated that 1/2 of those wrongly convicted was Official Misconduct and 1/2 convicted from mistakes in processing evidence. I wonder, was it because at the time they felt the person was guilty is why a DA or Police made up or with held evidence to convict a person. With that said the vast majority of DA, Police, and evidence processers are honest people doing their best to keep us safe. It's the few who use their power knowing that immunity protects their dishonest behavior is the main reasons we should offer every person a trail and hope it is tried by honest DA's and Judges. I want the guilty held accountable and innocent not be convicted.

It's difficult for humans. We are people of the living. This is why in murder trials, protectors need to work so hard to keep the victim alive and real in the minds of the jury...testimonies, videos, etc. Defence lawyers know this and capitalize on it, telling you as many stories as they can all about this living person, their life, trials. They ask you to place their life in your mind and forget about the child, or elderly, or young teenager gruesome murdered. Well, you know, it's sad what happened but we can't change the past blah blah. That's bullshit!! It's exactly the fact that the horrid murderer can't bring back life, we cant fix it, that is why we need to take it so seriously. It's not an un-doable wrong. So the DOING must not be done and if it does, grave consequences!

It’s because of the law change in Florida so every death sentence given that wasn’t unanimous has to redo the sentencing phase. To be given death instead of life without parole in Florida it now has to be a unanimous decision and in his original penalty phase it was majority not unanimous that’s the only reason this is happening again. I’m sure there are numerous penalty phases that are being retried but most weren’t as high profile as this one was so most aren’t being live-streamed

I think drugs do a lot of harm to one's psychological health and all of these people who were involved were drug addicts who had used to the point of being void of a conscious. It takes somebody who lacks compassion and complete disregard for anyone or anything to do what they did. Drugs are bad.

@Donnell Okafor 100% agree. They were so evil and the fact that it was pre-planned makes it so much worse. Out there digging holes for people who you know are going to due with no regard for them or their loved ones much less the suffering. Makes my stomach turn. There was so much time in which he could've backed out or had a change of heart but even after the fact he has totally lack of empathy or remorse. Disgusting

Until they get out and end up hurting people . The army isn’t for weak minded people you have to have somewhat of a sturdy foundation to begin with. Sending them away to the army is a quick fix at that moment but, no one’s thinking what’s going to happen afterwards. Someone who kills and especially the cold hearted sick minded way he did obviously has deep rooted issues that no where he goes he would of done something of this sort eventually. He’s wired wrong and being how he was raised doing whatever what he wanted to do without rules and consequences what did she think would happen!?! He surely wasn’t going to be a CEO one day! It’s important for anyone having children to actually be present and around in their life so that you’re not creating a future killer\ serial killer \ criminal..

It stays so difficult. Except for the fact, that her son buried 2 elderly people alive. Her dear son Alan, had a loving family. A loving mother, who did her best for him. And he, Alan, chose, it being okay, to treat the elderly couple, how he never wanted his loved ones/his mother to be treated. Ask the mother: "how do you feel, about YOUR SON, being able, that night, to bury that couple alive in the dirt. That hole. Putting dirt on them. With no mercy. Dirt in their lungs. Holding hands. Where was the mercy for mr and mrs Sumners? For me, it is hard to listen to this. Offcourse, she protects her son. Everybody forgets, that they all 4, thought, it being a good idea, to rob the Sumners. Go into their house, put them in the trunck, bring them to a hole and bury them alive. I just want to ask this mother of Alan: "what if another kid did this to you?" With his 'friends'. It stays beyond imagination. Buried alive. Her son, also, did, bury that elderly innocent couple, alive. Well, if it had been my son, I would also stay rather in denail, than facing the truth. That my son, BURIED AN ELDERLY COUPLE ALIVE. Just horrific.

I'm reading a lot of sympathy for his mother, however some of the things she did and said we're simply wrong and set him up for failure (his deadbeat father as well). Don't get me wrong, I have zero sympathy for the defendant and I'm sure my comment is going to get blown up but I noticed how emotional she got when speaking on her hardships and what she went through, but when speaking about him and his trauma she wasn't as emotional. For example, when asked about a call from the school, she immediately spoke about being threatened with jail instead of his suicide attempt. I know she had it hard but telling little boys they are "the man of the house" can cause life long issues and robs little boys of their childhood. I haven't watched the entire trial, this is only the second video I've watched. These are just some of my observations regarding some of her testimony. Don't get me wrong, I empathize with her because I am a single mother of 4 children who works minimum 77hours weekly. I get how hard it is. But we as parents must accept responsibility for the type of humans we raise whether intentional or not. I pray the victims and their family receive some type of justice. Obviously nothing compares to the horrendous acts involved in this case, but I pray they receive some type of closure.

Also, they have no control of it. They record what’s happening and they get what they get. If the courtroom audio sucks the video audio will also suck unfortunately. They don’t get to control anything in the courtroom including who has a mic. As long as the jury can hear that’s all the courts care about. It’s for the jury after all.

I’m glad I never had kids. Sounded like mom did the best she could considering. I loved her testimony and the phone call. I saw two sides to her. Momma Bear and Tough Mom. The phone call said it all to me. Allen could have stopped this at anytime yet he didn’t. Unfortunately he’s an accessory to murder, kidnapping and robbery. Just being there he’s guilty. If there were four shovels he helped dig a hole, but I believe Michael filled it in and buried the victims alive.

He’ll either get life without parole or death by lethal injection. He won’t get out alive either way. There was a rumor he fathered a child while on death row and they did address it in court previously and it’s simply not true based on what they’ve said in court and based on the contact that they’re allowed. They don’t get to even touch their visitors let alone have enough contact to get someone pregnant. They usually speak to visitors through glass on a phone when on death row.

I think there was a new death penalty law (state or national) where the death penalty sentence must be unanimous-if one juror disagrees then the sentence must be life v death. I think Tiffany, Michael, and Alan all received death penalties with one or two dissenting jurors so they all had sentencing retrials. Could be Michael received unanimous death penalty so no re-sentencing.

Regardless of what happens to us in this earthly life. We have choices. Please pray for this young man no matter the sin. He has a Mother that did her best and loves him and I pray he will turn to God. God is our refuge and our strenght in times of trouble. God sent His Son, (Himself) as a scrafice for our sins. Time is getting short on this earth. Please, Please have compassion and prayers for all regardless of our sins. May God be with us all. If we will call on Him and repent of our sins and change our ways He will forgive us our sins and we will see each other in Heaven. Love, to all on this earth regardless of the sin seek forgiveness. God is so good.

This mom is a typical mom that says it’s everyone’s fault but her babies. Hell with that. Laughing and saying he’s a trip for making damn eggs for breakfast what the hell moving to get him away from the bad influences. And his schooling who knows what the hell was that? Who cares about poor little Allen letting her son hang out with a Man 5 years older Letting him talk to her in that tone about her own son that’s bullshit she should of called the cops asap at that point. Work isn’t a excuse for not taking care of your kids. Being sick she should of put him in foster care if she couldn’t handle her little baby. Dang this is crazy hearing the mom talk about grown sons. And adult men and it’s crazy poor Allen… Does she realize there are Allen’s all across the country that make it and don’t treat their mom like shit and moms don’t treat their grown sons like a 10 year old forever. Michael should of been arrested for bullying a mom and son. If that what it was. Allen did it on his own and buried a elderly man and woman. Even in jail she supported him. Nope she should of cut him off the day he went into jail even before that. This mom is delusional and never going to be her son. Who cares to send her son books and buy him snacks from the jail store. And what does she think he’s away at college. I’ can’t believe she is actually trying to get him a easier sentence. laughing is disgusting this is all IMO. Bunch of bull shit.

Big brother Andrew, of Alan, didn't bury people alive, did he? Just asking..... Still wondering about, how mom, can let it slide, that her son, buried 2 innocent elderly people. Alive. Just putting dirt on them. In that hole. Lungs full with dirt. Soil. Walking away. And they, all 4 didn't care a f. Enjoyed the money later on. No worries. Untill caught. And then suddenly remorse and 'o gosh, life without parole or deathpenalty.....". That night, they thought, it being a good idea. Days before, it being a good idea..... This lovely mom of Alan, cannot put herself/mirror, as it was her. Experiencing what mr and mrs Sumners experienced. Wants to stay far away about that realizing, because her son did that with his 'friends'. I feel for this lady. Her life is, as so many other lifes are. Struggeling. We all can regconize that. But not all sons, kill and just can bury an elderly couple alive. Her beloved son Alan was capable. Mom of Alan, forgets that, in her whole memorylane of Alan. Her son, Alan, BURIED 2 old people, GASPING for air, and they walked away. There is really no excuse for that....
