I understand where Nico is coming from but it's totally plausible that some guys bought jewelry under the assumption it was real and just had a connection or relationship with the people that sold it to them and didn't think they needed to verify it by a third party. So it's definitely an option that some of these people are victims of scammers . The problem with hip hop culture is that it is being sold the idea that you need to spend your money on iced out chians, watches, rims, cars, clothes, strip clubs, etc. But not what actually makes you wealthy. For example, a factory set watch will go up in value, at the very least hold its value. The same cannot be said for a buss down.

In the beginning big gold chains were extremely popular like the ones worn by run DMC, But like everything else the next rapper had to outdo the previous rappers jewelry so they started inquiring about customizing their jewelry! They wanted their logos, gang initials and cartoon characters, Don’t blame the jeweler he is just supplying what people are demanding! If people are too stupid to realize that they are wasting their money on a product that is going to be worth half of what they paid as soon as they walk out the door that is their own problem! Just take a look at some of the wealthiest people and you will notice that they are not wearing any of that gaudy jewelry, You would think a person Who was raised in a family that was always struggling would be a little more cautious before spending so much money!
