@@sasha6594 it means several intl. Investigations ALL came up with massive voter fraud by Evos campaign. I actually liked what he did as President the first term. HOWEVER, he became less popular and had realistically no chance of winning. When he did win the reports of fraud poured in. It's boring to continually use the "CIA" or "OAS" excuse so let's agree Spanish, Canadian, Javanese, and EU investigations all, A-L-L found mountains of evidence of fraud.

@@foxbodyblues6709 - Evo knew that Washington was heavily invested in his departure. To undo any of the good that he had done while he was in power. The Bolivian Supreme Court changed the term limits legally - Unlimited term limits are not unfair or immoral in themselves. Australia and the UK have had unlimited leadership terms throughout their history. In Bolivia's case, we have the USA making a moral judgement, because they have had term limits since FDR.Yet, history is repeating itself, the US introduced term limits, so that, if an FDR type progressive came along, they could limit his influence to eight years. All in all, the USA has involved itself in another coup against another sovereign state again!!.....Peace...

@MonMalthias
@MonMalthias 4 жыл бұрын
@@rooppyguyy0562 The closest rival was 37%. Sure, in total the opposition parties netted 51%, but the vote leader in a multi-party election contest getting 47% is still a massive majority no matter how you slice it. A 10 point lead in an election, even assuming up to 5% of "donkey" vote papers that weren't filled in properly, would still mean a victory for Morales. Morales did order a recount, and he was still victorious in the recount. It was only because the police and military were mobilising against him that he had to step down. What that proves is that the old truism is still correct: control the means of violence and you control the country. If the means of violence turns against you - as the police and military did against Morales - then no successful vote result matters, because while you might have the ballot, they have the guns. And in general, bullets trump ballots. In any case, why are you so concerned about electoral percentages, when the eventual victor - Jeanine Anez - received only 4% of the vote? Not Mesa at 37%, but Anez who should have quit politics when her party performed as poorly as it did. Let's be real here. There was a coup, Anez was installed as a puppet dictator - for the OAS or the US it is hard to say - and Evo Morales is now in exile.
@copsuicide

A very one-sided non-critical interview. I am very disappointed as Greenwald looks like the assistant to Evo Morales. He does not appear as an independent journalist. A waste of a good opportunity to get an unbiased picture.

I am very thankful to you for covering Evo's loss here because his loss was his people's loss. I feel that Bolivia deserves another indigenous president and the U.S. butts out of Bolivian affairs. This is a major shame for our country.

As a Bolivian why would we need the US to be involved when we have overthrown 41 presidents?

@@intihumala9087 It is true. but as my memory serves me, the last president to be thrown out was selling off all of Bolivian water rights to a company called Bectel. He was thrown out by indigenous people. Elon Musk has connected his name with overthrows of leftist governments in search of Lithium for his electric car company. He has a famous quote on this activity. "We'll coups whoever we want to. Get over it." It is obvious that Bolivia is under attack from western corporations seeking to steal Bolivian natural resources on the cheap.

@@raykirkham5357 Evo Morales isn't a leftist, he's an ethnonationalist and Elon Musk started his own lithium mining company back in 2019 and is currently digging in Nevada as we speak. Evo Morales signed a 2.3 billion dollar lithium contract with China in 2019 and he did it against the populations will. Carlos Mesa wasn't overthrown by Indigenous he was overthrown by the entire country and the same people that voted for Evo Morales were the same people who were protesting him. Evo Morales turned Bolivia into a child trafficking and narco state.

@@intihumala9087 You are just plain wrong. There are clear links between Musk and these coups. Quit trying to troll this with fake news. There is a dearth of proven lithium deposits in America. We also do not produce chromium, tin, cobalt, diamonnds and a host of other valuable resources found in countries under attack by U. S. corporate interests.

@@raykirkham5357 Im 38 years old and I was born and raised in Bolivia bub. The US only makes up 6% of the global demand for lithium, there is zero connections between Musk and Bolivia.. ZIP The only person who made that claim was a wannabe journalist named max blumenthal who's father was a campaign advisor for Hillary Clinton.

I don't know why in the West that if a President serves more than two terms it generally leads to corruption and abuse of power but the "successful" South East Asian countries that economist like to quote or admire like South Korea and Singapore success,is down to political stability or decades being under a dictatorship that enacted policies that enabled economic growth some 20 to 30 years later, ignoring IMF policies. Political stability is essential to growth in any country and if the people reelected him so be it, let them solve their problems internally but the conceptual West again always like to interfere and support any government that enriches their corporations and perpetuate global hegemony on the global south.

Corrupt like FDR? It doesn't mean corruption here either. The real issue is that Morales was nationalizing natural resources that our government wants open to free trade.

Well, this is Morales version of the story, but the real true is another one, first the bolivian constitucion allow one term re election, but he re named the country from replubic to state so he says in the state is my first term so i can legale stay one more time! So we bolivians had to swallow that trick! Then he call a referemdum 21 february to ask citizens if we want him one more time as a president and he lost! We told him NO in 21F, he said he will obey with no further discusion what the referendum will demand! And that se citizen also must accept the result of the referendum with no complain! So we all agree to respect it! But he LOST, BOLIVIA TOLD HIM NO! so he decided no to obey the referemdum decition and he said it is his human right for the 4th time!!! To present himself in the elections! So we citizen swallowed it again!!! And we all citizens decided we liked or not we all will vote for his strongest openent wich was carlos Mesa, so we did! We all voted for Mesa, but in middle of the counting of the votes the light went off!!! Yes magically it went off and for 2 DAYS!! When the counts stoped mesa and morales were tying! So there were going to be a second round with only these 2 candidates! So it was going to be a NO WAY morales win in second round!! The only way for morales to win qas in first round but as he was tie with mesa in second round for sure he was going to loose so he had to do something!!! They cut the electricity and internet!! After TWO DAYS the counts back and Morales was winning in first round to Mesa! So of course all people went to the streets furious and burned the electoral buldings! And protestors in the streets! So Mesa and other politicians went out to say calm down lets find a solution! But it was late people was furius angry and Morales went out to celebrate and say we wond for the 4th time!! So people got moree mad!! Didnt leave since this moment the streets! For 21 days untill morales left the country! But in those 21 days Morales appeared on tv just to moke about people blocking the streets people standing in the streets without back home to est sleep or anything they were 21 days in the streets 27/7! No body went back home! They cooked in the streets and shared food in all arround the country! Morales was moking them, insulting them, when they decided to go from every city to la paz to kick his ass! He used cuban snipers, there were venezuelan militars even with venezuelan uniforms not even disguising, terrorist from las farc, from argentina and colombia! And he was giving the indigenous people dinamits to go protest and scare the protestors in the streets for they back home, the indigenous dont know use those dinamits they were explofing themselves their hands faces etc alottt of savage things did morales not to fall!! Its very long! But i try to give you here a glince, for you see how lie he is!
