Welcome to DESIGN SEED, Would you be curious to know how a house could be built with only 2 doors? Could a terrace house renovation be executed within 300 grand and still look like this?
Today’s episode on Design Seed we will be sharing with you an interesting 3 storey terrace house transformation that was built by owners and designers of the house themselves.
This episode is a collaboration between Design Seed & Atelier International and we hope to boost an awareness to the design scene.

Hello. Been watching several videos and I've enjoyed all of them so far. My biggest question for all the properties is this, how do they deal with mosquitoes and flying roaches? Pest is a big thing for landed properties in Msia. All the properties I've seen so far focus a lot on good air ventilation and open concept, so how to keep the mosquitoes out?

love it to see architects building their own dwellings. we can see lots of crazy experimental ideas in which no one thought would make sense, and it turned out to be somewhat iconic, working and timeless. just trust their vision :)

Unique design and the open plan is lovely. Howeve probably not for a local like me who is concerned about mosquitos, lizards, and pests coming through the open backyard and perforations of the brick wall.

One of the most adorable upgraded house I have seen so far. Art is imperfect, so should be our house, it will get old and imperfect together with those live in it. This is what makes a house alive.

Another great vid Alex. This time, you took a different format through a conversational approach which I like very much and hope you continue to have such interaction in your future video. Makes the interaction with the home, owners and host more relatable. Mixed appreciation of this home, both practical and design. What I like design wise is the open spaces, spatial design and most of all, the terraces behind with the creepers and the upper connected to the flat piece of land that could be turn into a garden which I appreciate the idea a lot. The practicality on mozzies and insects given its close proximity with a secondary jungle makes me think twice, practically.

So cool. The spiral staircase and the gaps on the wall that allows natural light to peak through makes the stairs look like a chandelier - a functional one. Very pretty 💕

and dust? Is everything simply water tight so you can just rinse it off once a day without destroying the nice things? If so, sign me up! I'd love that simplicity!!! It looks so nice. Which way do the bricks angle for light and block for heat-east? Or is it to catch the wind better?

Hey Design Seed! Just found your channel now. I'm from the Philippines where our climate and environment is almost the same as yours in Malaysia. I really love the designs of these terrace houses but I noticed that when you open your windows, you don't put any mosquito screens. Just wanted to ask if mosquitos or other insects are just as abundant in Malaysia as it is in the Philippines? I would very much like to try similar designs here in my country. Thank you and awesome video!

Thank you for shooting this fantastic episode. I got a suggestion but I am not sure whether it is a doable stuff. Anyway, since it is social media platform, I think it is better for me to speak out what I am thinking. I found out every episode includes nice and well designed property with details. However, sometimes, I would come across something interesting or may be suites my own "taste" but I could not find the cost or budget. I think this is a part where many observers are quite curious about. I hope my suggestion could be considered by your side. Many thanks again for the great effort.

Since you asked about the ratio, let me narrate an anecdote. I came back from abroad to my then girlfriend's parent's home for lunch. We were to get married later that week. They served me lunch early as I had woken up early for my flight and was hungry. With my chapatis and rice, I cleaned out all the vegetables and dal that was put in front of me. A few years later my wife told me that the vegetables and dal served to me that day was for the ENTIRE FAMILY. She still wonders how I finish so much dal and curry with just 2 chapatis. So I agree with your man - there's no proportion, you decide your own! The special something in the Rasam? I suspect he is tasting Hing or Asafoetida

I really enjoy watching your videos. Transforming ugly design linķ houses to beautiful spaces. I must say Malaysia have the ugliest houses in the world be it link, semi d or bungalows. I just can understand how the hell our architects could design such homes. And I know many of them even studied architecture overseas. The architect who invented the terrace or linked house in Malaysia should be blacklisted and banish from Malaysia. He started this ugly houses and it caught on till today. First it was 2 storey and now it has gone to 3 or even 4 storey and the land plot is getting smaller. What an embarassment when tourists see our homes.
