the pvs-14 are kinda a pain, but there not as bad as the older ones. if you use the Energizer batteries titanium core they last for more then 12 hours, same as the 40s. the ones he showed at the start are great with the 1 caveat that the ones with black and white view have a hard time seeing the IR.

Give it a networked "tag as enemy" function like in Battlefield 3 that puts a red icon/outline over every tagged enemy unit for all friendlies in the area and it's gonna be an even bigger game changer. But that will require some pretty sophisticated software for continuing to track a shape as it move in an out of cover. And I don't think there's any realistic way for a tagged object or person to remain tracked if they fully enter concealment.

In 10-20 years, something similar will be used to catch Pokémon while being cheap and small. Running on a 6G/7G network while being compatible with eyeglass-sized VR goggles on e.g. android or apple :)
