Meekness is indeed greater than humility. It is your ability to give up your right and allow yourself to cheated for peace to reign. The Bible calls it an ornament of great price before the Lord. Everyone should wear this ornament.

It goes beyond that. Meekness is accommodating the weakness of others in their season of learning. Allowing people to cheat you repeatedly might be a product of your disobedience and arrogance. Being unevenly yoked with unbelievers is not virtuous so if they hurt you repeatedly, you're at fault. Moses was asked to strike the rock only once... But if you give grace and patience to someone who's already in Christ and is committed to growth then that's meekness.
