How does the VA handle the process? Do they take away your VA rating? I know you can’t get both at the same time, but when you retire/separate again, will you automatically pick back up with your 40% rating?

@@noahwayne3847 hey, so they don’t take away your VA disability rating. You will put your benefits on hold if you go active. If you do reserves you can still collect your disability rating, but not on drill days. Make sure to inform the VA of any time you are doing drills or on active orders. This way your not double dipping. Hopefully this answers your question.

This is an excellent video I wanted to add some stuff tho your biggest obstacle when ever joining back is going to be your recruiter out of everything your recruiter is going to make or break your process of rejoins the military. I have a general under honorable discharge with an RE code 3 and I’m a 100% P&t veteran I was out for about 4 years before I was able to get back in this year into the army reserve. I’m give some tips for anybody that’s interested. First tip the component you’re trying to get into will dictate just how hard it will be for you to get back in. Example if your a disabled vet your going to have way better luck getting into the NG or reserves then active duty just because of the low vs high tempos each one is operating at. Second tip and make sure your in very good fitness your going to have to meet the PT standard before joining and if your more physically fit to past the pt test the easier it will be and more willing your recruiter will be at helping you. Third tip is take your time with it it will be a very very long process I needed every single one of my Va claims wavered and because I had a re code 3 I had to also get that wavered it will take a very very long time and a lot of waiting make sure you print out all your Va paperwork get all your medical stuff taken care of show them that you been working with the Va to get better it make a much better arrangement when you go to the Va to receive treatment then it is just getting your claim and doing nothing about your injury or mental health seek help. 4 tip is just keep trying. I had to go threw 7 recruiters before I got one that actually worked with me to get me there the system don’t quit just because some ass hat wants easy high school kids to join keep trying keep working on yourself and just keep pushing it till you make it it’s a long process so don’t quit on it and keep going to find someone who wants to help you I had to drive 2 hours to see my recruiter because he was the only willing to help. Be honest with them and do your part and just don’t quit
