Center Point Energy is the only company about electric in Harris County which is the biggest county in Texas. It is monopoly. Need to have at least two companies in Harris County.

That's good in theory, but not in reality. It would be like saying we need another highway dept to build alternative roads in addition to TXDOT. There really isn't the room for alternative infrastructures. Most of the state is singularly certified on electricity with a lesser amount being dually certificed where 2 different entitites meet geographically. It's just not really possible to bring in another company. You could always move, or attempt to go off grid.

I can't agree more. I'm 36 years old, native Texan all my life and I live in Katy Texas and just waiting for my next power bill cuz I know it's going to be crazy... ugh

Waste of time, Senators voice complaints and CenterPoint apologizes. There are no details to identify & fix problems, how long does it take to identify line problems, how many poles broke, how many lines down from trees, how many transformers blew up, how long to replace a pole, what was the strategy for spreading workforce, where were access problems, where/who are priority customers, was there an Operational Command Center to allocate resources. Don't expect a CEO to know details, not his area of expertise but he should have brought someone that did know.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about to... it's mostly stage for politicians to look good. I'm hoping they'll make some changes but doubt it

We are a small subdivision with a wait time of 8 days without light and some days no water. Light poles still leaning (ready to fall) on hwy 90 and McCarty Drive, Houston , Tx . Neighbors came together cut huge tree to make way out of neighborhood. Can someone find a solution to this problem??

Center point ejected, 11 days of power outage , power outage due to transformer fuse blown. Repair completed in just 5 minutes. CENTER POINT EJECTED .

DEMAND THE CEO AND VP STEP DOWN! THE VP SAID THEY WOULDNT DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT PEOOLE DIED. THEY SHOULD FACE CRIMINAL CHARGES THE LINEMEN WERE SITTING FOR 3 DAYS BECAUSE CENTERPOINT DIDNT WANT TO PAY THEM SO THEY WERE PAYING FOR THEIR OWN HOTELS ANS WAITING FOR WORK ORDERS 2 AND 3 DAYS COULD HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE GET CENTERPOINT THE HELL OUT OF HOUSTON NOW AND DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO CHARGE US SHIT!!!

Why did governor Abbott approved legislation to allow center piont to charge customers for repairs after natural disaster! We should we be taxed for this on our monthly bills. KEEP IN MIND CENTER REFUSES TO CUT TREES THAT ARE HANGING OVER POWERLINES. ALSO THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE WITH OUT POWER AS OF JULY 30, 2024!

As a PM who lost power for a full 7 days, I asked myself the same exact thing. It blew my freaking mind that they don’t have PMs to coordinate this stuff and it could have so easily been avoided.

Homeowners need to take responsibility for maintaining thier yards. When you don't cut your grass your yard will grow weeds that can turn into trees that will grow and affect the power lines. Once it grows tonbigbyoubplace it in the light company to cut it down because of your Laziness!

In ONE YEAR I've had more than a dozen outages due to PISS POOR vegetation management, where the trees are literally growing into the overhead lines feeding my house. I cringe when the slightest storm/winds hit my area because I KNOW the power is going out. I KNOW CenterPoint knows this issue exists and they've done NOTHING to fix it.

You may want to check but i think it it affects only the line going to your home you have to pay to remove it. I had to do this even though the trees were not mine

@@user-lp5ci9bi2j The overhead line runs down the edge of the subdivision that backs up to a transmission line easement. Underground drops come off that line and feed the entire subdivision of about 2500 homes, so when I go out out, we ALL go out...and NOBODY is happy about it. That many people getting REGULAR power outages over an easily fixed problem is inexcusable.
