I'm really enjoying your videos. This is actually the first time I've ever commented on a youtube video, so that says something. Thanks for sharing these peeks into your process. I'm a seamstress and I make organic children's clothing and sell on Etsy, but I'm researching how to switch to designing a line and find a manufacturer, it's getting hard to make each piece myself. I have zero college background at all, and have been overwhelmed with how much I have to learn, but your videos are actually helping me feel more confident that I have a bigger grasp on it all than I realized, and helping me fill in the gaps I've been wondering about. One of the things I'm curious about is handling customs once garments start coming your way from overseas. I hope it goes well for you settling on a manufacturer and I'm excited to follow more.

I absolutely love how informational your videos are 🤍 I am looking to start a handmade clothing line and plan on patterning and sewing the garments myself. I have tons of patterns all a size 2 and was looking to get them graded into multiple sizes. I don’t live in New York or los angles and was wondering if you had any recommendations on how to go about finding a manufacture or seamstress that will grade my patterns. Any tips are appreciated!

Do you have a specific program you use for the tech packs? Or great resources/ books? I went to school for design but honestly I forgot how to make a full tech pack lol
@nataliadedios3 жыл бұрын
yes! The Spec Manual is about flats and how to measure garments for tech packs and how to do spec sheets! It was a textbook I used for one of my classes at FIT. and the Fashion Business Manual has a section about tech packs in it as well. I just linked both in the description box :) those are my go to's I don't use a fancy program! you can create a tp on excel (a company I worked for did that) or you can make your own TP template (that's what I did/I referenced other tech packs I've seen)

Be careful with international manufacturers. I was working with one in Pakistan and they completely messed up my order. I had to ship it back and bear the cost of shipping which was over $1400 (300 pieces of clothing). Then it got stuck in Pakistan customs because customs wants them to pay $8000 to clear the shipment and they refuse. Be smarter than me!

Could you make your own pattern if you know how and save that money??
@nataliadedios3 жыл бұрын
you can! but I only recommend this if you are experienced at making patterns or if the pattern is very simple
