Avi is highly respected in the bass world and credited with making bass “cool” again. Yes, he has always been seriously talented and has been writing music since he was 13yo. Now he is gaining the same level of respect in the singer-songwriter world…many musicians appreciate his “real” music and of course…his voice. He is a great singer-songwriter, who happens to have an amazing bass, but he only uses it for accents in his music these days. He does do alternate (low) versions of several songs, but of course all of his music is amazing - just know he uses his full range which is 🤯. I saw Avi live for the first time in Dec ‘22, and I can tell you his voice (incl bass) is even more powerful in person. It literally shakes you. 🔥

I had tickets to see him in March 2020 - which of course was cancelled! I'm looking forward to seeing him again one of these days soon. I did see PTX years ago in a large arena, and Avi's lowest notes even shook that!

@@rlhcat7662 Avi recently said that he hopes to do a short tour later this year, but now he's working to write a whole new album. Once that's out, a tour will support the release. By the way, he's teased that this new writing is so far heading in a more rock and blues direction. If the Sunset Sound version of "When I'm a Fool" is a taste of that, we are in for fantastic new Avi music.

I love when PTX does this -- 5 voices all do something completely different at the same time, but it works together. Insanely good! As for Avi's bass -- I fell in love with his voice from the first song. While Avi quickly became my favorite, I love each of their voices for soooo many reasons. They constantly surprise and impress me. That's what makes them so special, because they are all equally talented, and all shine in different ways. Matt joining PTX has allowed us to keep PTX (he's great), and allowed Avi to give us a whole new world of music. I'm happy. Great reaction!

Babytonix! Only a month or two after The Sing-Off. Five Pentatonix members, on their own in LA, with no record contract (the company who promised them a contract for winning the TV show reneged because they couldn't figure out how to make money off the group). They are 19 (Kirstie and Mitch), 20 (Scott), 23 (Avi), and 24 (Kevin), singing their hearts out in a parking garage for the acoustics. ETA: Re nassssty bass, try New Rules x Are You That Somebody (mashup), with Matt Sallee, who became the Pentatonix bass when Avi left (stress, insomnia, anxiety brought on by a relentless recording/touring schedule and the knowledge that his mother was being treated for cancer) in 2017.

I love a lot of the older PTX. I like the rawness of the performance. As others have suggested you should check out Avi's solo music. His voice has improved ( hard to believe) in my opinion. No matter what he is singing it sounds phenomenal! Thanks for the fun reaction, cheers!

I loved your reaction! Yes, this was very early on, and it is a very raw, low produciton video, which are always my favorites. I appreciated your pointing out that little run Mitch sticks in, and Avi's "butt-shaking bass", as one of the judges on the Sing Off called it. Another video you might want to check out is their cover of Thrift Shop. The harmonies are incredible and it has a major Avi lead to boot!

Girlfriend, the people are not ready for you! Walking in with that smile, and the body we all know you work hard to sculpt, s..t! This is one of the ones that they run through three times live, then pick the best of the three. It’s how they did some of the early ones. Carol of the Bells was one of them. They were out looking for a specific location, couldn’t find it, so they recorded it with an iPad at a view spot on the road. Crazy!

You should watch some of their videos from "The Sing Off". This was the show where they got their start, from day one Avi and Kevin just dominated everything that they did. This was one of their very first videos so I believe that this very well have been done live.

Avi, having been classically trained had two career offers and choices. The first offer came from the Los Angeles Opera House and within 48 hours PTX via Scott found him through Ben Bram and Avi chose PTX. I know nothing about Matt, but I left PTX when Avi did. It was his voice that drew me to them and his leaving that drew me away.

My favorite member of PTX was Avi, too, but over time, I realized that he had to leave, and he is soooo much happier doing his own music. Matt is a great bass, but I don't think he has as much say in the kind of music they are doing. Avi's biggest contributions to PTX were his voice and his ability to write and arrange songs in a unique way. PTX is talking about a new album of original songs, and it will be interesting to see what's in that. I still enjoy PTX, but we'll see what the new album brings.

I think this is one of the first reactions to this song that I've seen where Avi was the only sole focus of the reactor...usually it's either Kevin or Mitch LOL. Not that Avi isnt noticed by other reactors, of course he is...just typically Kevin's beat boxing on this, esp his water drops, and Mitch being Mitch are pointed out the most.
