I’ve started doing my own reties because I feel like the lady who has been doing it has been doing it so tight and too fast that the locs around my edges have started breaking. I’m learning that if I want something done correctly and with care it’s better to do it myself no matter how long it takes. Pray for me that I have patience with my hair, y’all!

You got this. It takes me all day to retighten my own. There are times when I just do my front half and the next week do the rest. You'll figure out what works best for you. I started my own and maintain them too cause you're right when you want it done right do it yourself.

@@mamasaidsew4843 right! I have a 7 month old baby and originally got locks so I wouldn’t have to style my hair constantly. But I’m noticing locks around my edges falling out and I can’t have that! I’m slowly doing small sections everyday. The turtle finishes the race through endurance.
@mamasaidsew48433 жыл бұрын
@@Afrodite96 be careful with your edges. Postpartum may be why they are thinning. I know mine did after my sons. Good new is they will recover. Congrats on the baby.
@Afrodite963 жыл бұрын
@@mamasaidsew4843 thanks!! I’m thinking it’s a tension issue. I always have tenderness and itchiness in my crown and around my edges after she does my reties. The tool used is too big for the size of my locs and pulls them too tight, thinning it out at the root. I’ve made it known that I’d like it done looser but sometimes people got a lot going on to understand what you’re saying until it’s too late.

Aint gonna lie... did my first retie one month ago and I had some very real challenges! Real panic attacks. But i went back and watched keke and a couple other favorite sisters on KZbin. I took a deep breath and spoke words of affirmation "you can do this"! And guess what?! It DID get better! I learned I cannot do them all in one sitting so my next retie which will be this week, I will tie one quarter each night for a total of four nights. This will go much better I am sure!! I have been considering loc for a while now. Did them last year around May and had over 500 locs but my hair was way to thin and my base was started screaming on my 5th month. So I decided to take them out on September. Had a lot of hair shedding and breakage. Especially toward my crown area. I was just in love with tiny winy locs until I found your channel 😍😍😍 so I decided to grow my hair back as I had lost so much and they were so uneven! And now I’m 1 week in my new journey with 298 locs and I am so in love with them! And this time I took my time in the parting ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for been so inspiring to others

These sessions are not cheap so I figure until my locks get a bit more length I'll get them professionally done then I'll start doing them myself. You can get holes in your locs, but you can fix them as well. I can do a video on that soon! And it depends on the person. I think every 2 months for me is great.
